    Very Bad News

My 10yr old cat Punky has not be eating very well & just seemed to
want to go off by himself to sleep for the last few days. I took him to the
Vet today. The Vet suspects FIP (feline Infectious peritonitis). Took x-rays
of his chest, his body is full of fluid & could barely see the lungs for the
fluid. She tried to drain some of the fluid to test, but was unsucessful.
She sent us home with pills(diuretic) to get rid of as much fluid as possible
to help his breathing. The prognosis is bad, there is no cure.

Will try to make him comfortable as possible & if he seems to improve
any, will try the chest x-rays again in hopes of finding another cause
besides FIP, something operable. (A very long shot) I am devastated.

I'm sorry about Punky. Hopefully the meds will help and make him comfortable.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Oh I am so very sorry to read this. I HATE FIP, as there is just nothing you can do. Prayers for your Punky to be comfortable.

I hope it turns out to be something other than FIP, something treatable. Lots of healing thoughts for Punky.

I'm so sorry to read your sad news about Punky. I pray that the long-shot that it's not FIP comes true. If it is FIP, there really isn't anything much you can do except make him comfortable until it's time to let him go. He's not an elderly cat, and I always think that makes it even more difficult to say goodbye because we expect many more years. Please keep us posted on your beautiful boy.

    Sending get well wishes, Punky!

Many prayers for dear Punky. I hope the diuretics work and there is something else very treatable causing problems.
