I picked up Owen Christopher from Owenboro yesterday because he was going to be killed. He was on the URGENT list but had a lady to sponsor him for all his medical bills if a rescue or person would take him. I had been trying to help him and told them if NO ONE else will take him I will so that he won't be killed. They called and said that he just developed an URI and if I couldn't take him he would be put down. So of course I couldn't let that happen so I went to get him. The shelter is a very HIGH KILL one. The percent of cats that come in that get killed is 90%! The ones with special needs are usually put down when they come in because they have so many healthy ones that need homes. Anyway, I picked him up and his URI was worse than I expected so I called his sponsor and told her I think he needed to go to the vet now instead of me waiting to get an appt with my vet on Monday. There was also some confusion about if he was FELK+ or not so i took him to the ER and had him retested and the URI treated. he is on two antibiotics and I have been giving him Lysine and steam showers to try and break up all the congestion. Today out of his right nostril the discharge was bloody instead of red tinged. I am real wooried about him and need all of you great prayers to help me pray from Owen Christopher( Christopher was his shelter name because his sponsor is named Chris, but i decided to call him Owen from owensboro and then owen Christopher when he gets in trouble lol) He is a doll baby.
