Hello everyone--I am the proud guardian of a 10+ yr old mixed breed, long-haired female cat. She came to us as a pregnant stray 10 yrs ago. She has been healthy until late last year when she was diagnosed with diabetes. During the month of December and before she showed other signs of illness, she began pulling tufts of fur out of her hindquarters. A visit to the vet was unremarkable. Her anal glands were very full and the vet emptyed them. We hoped that the problem was solved but she has continued the behaviour even though her diabetes is well-controlled. Her once impressive pantaloons are now gone and she looks terrible. I understand this can be caused by stress but she is a very calm and relaxed cat. She gets along well with her ten year old daughter. Has anyone any ideas? Thanks Marg
