Earlier this evening our almost 17 years old (just missed her 17th birthday by 15 days) pointer-beagle mix, Nellie, refused her dinner. A little while later I saw her standing staring and looking really odd, then she dropped.
We rushed her to the vets to be put down.
At 17, we weren't going to put the old girl through tests or diagnostics or anything of the sort.
We felt she deserved her long lat peaceful sleep.
Her breathing was very labored and her eyes were already glazed and not really seeing anything by time we got to the vets.
Nellie was a good girl and we'll miss her very much.
