Today I found Buddy passed away in his sleep. He passed away from old age and I am beyond glad that he did go in his sleep. He did not deserve to go painfully or consciously.
Buddy was over two years old. He was technically my Mom's hamster. She paid for him and I took care of him. He was a very spoiled hamster, he certainly was a lucky hamster. We got him from petsmart, in fact he is the last rodent that I have gotten from a pet store. He was very shy at first and it took him some time to get comfortable with people. Once he did though he was just a big mushy love-hamster. He was quick and loved to explore but he was also content to sit in someone's hands. In the last month or so he became very content to sleep in my hands or sit on my shoulder, which made me pretty happy. He even slept in my Dad's hands last night. Buddy was a very sweet and special hamster that will be missed. He was also my last hamster.
Rest In Peace Buddy. I love you.
