Camera flash light unhealthy for a cat's eye?

I love taking photos of Luna, especially now that I got a digital camera. But I was wondering if the flash could do any harm to a cat's eye?

I noticed that most of the time, Luna does not look straight into the camera when I'm using the flash, so she obviously does not like it too much, but does anyone know if the flash lights can do any damage?

I have never heard of this, but it does bring up an interesting question. I know of a few proud cat owners who would have blind cats by now if this were true though (they love to photograph their cats) Let us know if you find an answer.

I've never heard that it's dangerous. I would think that it's similar to people. When I see a flash then I'll start seeing spots.
