Phred, it you get a few more of these cans and empty them all around your house - at a distance of course, you won't need a fence! All the neighborhood dogs and cats are bound to stay away! And who knows what plants will grow along that line

Maybe this could be a new deterrent to crime. Instead of bread and water give them bread and clam juice!!! It'd sure make me behave!

Doesn't this sound like an episode from The Twilight Zone ... eerie music, anyone? Hee, hee, hee.

Oh no Phred! Please don't use the clams to fertilise your plants, you might end up with a yard full of TRIFFIDS!

A heavy drum beat; a sickly green light floods the screen; highlighting a series of faces as they stare upwards. Eerie choral music complements the air of impending danger. Something wet and leathery flies out, striking a screaming woman. The 'tongue' slithers towards the viewer, obscuring all else.

    Weed or Triffid? -
    It’s your decision!

“I whipped round to find a triffid towering only a few feet behind me. In one automatic movement I had my hands over my eyes. I heard the sting whistle as it slashed out at me - but there was no knockout, no agonizing burning, even. One’s mind can move like lightning at such a moment; nevertheless, it was more instinct than reason which sent me leaping at it before it had time to strike again. I collided with it, overturning it, and even as I went down with it my hands were on the upper part of the stem, trying to pull off the cup and the sting. Triffid stems do not snap - but they can be mangled. This one was mangled thoroughly before I stood up”

Well Phred, it’s beginning to look as if you shouldn’t have taken our advice about the clams in the first place, doesn’t it! So, if you see anything like this appearing in the yard, you’d better make an emergency call to your friends on Pet Talk, we’re here to help you out!

  8. Dear Doctor Niksbokken....

What's a clam to do????? Doc, you should hear how they talk about me. Isn't life hard enough for me -- shut in all day in the same old shell? Cats shun me....even DOGS shun me (at least I have the distinction of being the first digestable shunned by a dog...)

Now they want to bury me in the garden -- sacrifice me to the gods for a triffid! NO dignity at all!

Doc, doc, you gotta help me break out of my shell!
