I did find this one, which disturbs me greatly, about abandoned cats on a deserted island in Brazil -

    https://gratefulness.org/candle/sing...6046?pagenum=2

I don't know what's going on there or where to begin to find out (which I'm rather scared to do), or what organizations to pass this onto who might be able to look into it and get something done to help.

I want to add a few candles. I'm going to need to spend some time figuring out how it works, so I can add them, with luck to a Pet Talk group.

I did searches for "pet talk," "Pet Talk," "Catmandu," and "Phred," which I thought are unusual enough names there probably wouldn't be anyone else with candles under those names. But the searches didn't turn up any. I looked through a few pages of candles but didn't find any of those. When I have a little more time I will try this some more.

There certainly are a lot of candles with names in completely different alphabets!

    Thanks again, dear Elyse!

Try it again. I re-lit for Catmandu and Phred and tagged them both with Pet Talk. If the search box turns white, click on the magnifying glass anyway. I will keep trying.

I just tried again, and I was able to get to the candles for Phred and Catmandu (and it isn't case-sensitive, I got them with or without initial-caps). Then I did a search for "pet talk" and it came back with the Phred and Catmandu and Pet Talk candles.

I just did another one for Gary (Catmandu). I put Pet Talk in the "If you wish ..." box, and just my name, Pat, in the "Sign your candle.." space. It came out with just my name on the candle, but when you click on it, you get "Pet Talk For our dear friend Gary Catmandu", which was what I had written in the box.

If you do a search on "Catmandu," mine comes up along with yours, Elyse: https://gratefulness.org/light-a-can...hterm=catmandu

And if you do a search on "Pet Talk," then your three plus my one for Gary come up: https://gratefulness.org/light-a-can...hterm=pet+talk

So I guess one way to get a Pet Talk group going would be, for anyone who wants to join the group, to include "Pet Talk" somewhere on the Light A Candle page you're filling out. Then that candle will appear when someone searches for "Pet Talk" candles.

    It's a start, anyway!

P.S., the candles don't seem to be arranged in any chronological order. My brand-new one is not only not among the first ones, it's not among the last ones either.

I wrote to the SPCA International asking if they knew anything about this or could help these cats. They gave me the name of a Brazilian organization, Oito Vicas http://www.oitovidas.org.br/wp/, that works to help cats there.

I went to their web site, which was all in Portuguese, of course. They had a "contact us" page with spaces to fill in information. I wrote about the situation, asking if they knew about it or could find out and somehow see that these cats got help. I started out saying I hope you can read English, because I'm sorry I don't know Portuguese.

I hope I will hear something back from them!

Clicking on this link in the original post (#138) is the only way I can find our candles. I quickly lit a few more.

Thanks for the tip on the original link in post 138, Elyse! I found the page and added a couple more candles. It was so nice to see and read the ones you lit, and thank you again, Elyse!

I just found that the search from the main page worked when I entered "pet talk" this time. I don't know what made the difference. It hadn't worked when I first tried there.

The candles go away after they go out, after 48 hours I think, so those earlier Pet Talk ones were long gone!

The candles were all out when I checked this time, so I lit a new one.

Thank you, Elyse! I just lit one, and I'll light some more when I have a bit more time.

It's always so nice to see the candles, all filled with so much love!
