Hooved Animal Humane Society.. ton of large photos (dial up beware)

I thought there might be some people here who'd enjoy these. Yesterday my mother and I went to the Hooved Animal Humane Society (HAHS) picnic/performance/silent auction fundraiser. Needless to say I was very trigger happy, taking pictures of performers and rescues as well. It was a privilege to meet some of the rescues personally and they each had a beauty of their own. It was exciting to capture some wonderful images of these amazing creatures.

They were giving wagon rides. The drafts were gorgeous.

I absolutely loved these two. I believe they were Percherons.

    One of the rescues.

These two were prancing and galloping up and down the fence line together.

This was a really pretty red roan that caught my eye. They were doing some sort of judging on a group of horses/riders when we got there but I'm not sure what it was.

    Really pretty little mare.

    Tons more.

This beautiful guy was standing right behind me.

    The roan again.

    Leaving the arena.

    The little buckskin mare.

This little girl was doing some basic dressage.

This is a rescue, Peter Pan.

His little bio. Each of the horses had one.

    Enjoying some hay.

This came out a bit overexposed, but I thought he was such a handsome chestnut.

    still many more

    More rescues

This rescue is a black paint with one blue eye and one brown. He was friendly but is a cribber. He's a new arrival there.

    Gorgeous bay and dun.

As I mentioned, I absolutely adored these two.

I wish this had been a tad crisper but I still like the picture.

These next few are of the show put on by the equestrian drill team.

Horse and rider watching the show.

The announcer was hard to hear but I believe they said this is a morgan cross. They had really bad sound equipment but watching the routine was enjoyable.

And ummm.. the next little show LOL.

A couple rescues see these strange little demons.

So they beat a hasty retreat!

    More rescues

Cash was an absolute sweetheart. Other than some normal aging signs of swayback and more sunken temples, you would never have guessed he was 35.

    A couple more.

I took this one to really show his nice condition.

Ok and that's about the end of them!

I got a few videos but they weren't the best as I didn't have anything to stabilize the video cam. But if anyone would like to see the Roman riding in action it's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TEbXiOkYtc

And if you'd like to know more about the HAHS you can visit their web site here: http://www.hahs.org/

    Thanks for letting me share!

So many gorgeous photos of so many beautiful horses!
You took some really amazing photos, I could comment on all of them but then this post would run on for days!
I absolutely love the black and white paint horse, the markings are so cool the way the white stripe runs down his rump.
I just love horses and I would have loved to see all the performances they did.
So you weren't tempted to adopt one for yourself?
I would have definitely wanted to bring at least one home with me, maybe I would have tried to sneak out one of the mini horses with me.
    RIP sweet Samantha

Thank you guys! I'm so glad you enjoyed looking at them.

Nope, not there to adopt myself. I'd love to be able to but I couldn't afford the board and maintenance needs of a horse right now. Also with having to work two jobs I'd never be able to give the time a horse needed without neglecting the pups and the time they need. But if I could ever get back to working one job I'd love to volunteer out there as they are always eager for volunteers. Until then I can at least support them with donations . They were I believe the first humane society for hooved animals. The grounds were beautiful!

    Wow! So many beautiful horses.
I must say, I absolutely love the coloring of Peter pan. I am pretty horse-illiterate, but it looks like it would have been really neat to attend this event.

You took some really great pictures. Thanks so much for sharing them!
