    The Mutt Scouts' Blog

    Hi gang,

Came across this link thru a Dog's Deserve Better rep. And thought I would pass it on. It's both heart-wrenching and heart-warming, the befores and afters are mindblowing. http://themuttscouts.wordpress.com/

Be sure to look at the July 30th blog and the picture of the white pittie. Does that picture not rip your heart out? The DDB rep sent an inquiry to MSB and this is the reply:

    Hi,
Thanks for asking about this poor Pit.
He came in as a stray on the 25th of July. He became available just yesterday and he is already red-listed and will be killed in a matter of days if no one comes for him.!
He is in the back row of kennels- where the aggressive dogs and "keep alones" are usually kept. This is South Central Los Angeles and many of these dogs are used for fighting.
He has behavior notes on his kennel card that he bites and is sensitive to touch. He probably has never been touched in a nice way in all of his 6 years.
    He is deaf.
He is a dog truly suffering.
At no time when I was at his cage did he growl or bark- he just sat there shivering.
He did make his way up to the front of the cage and took treats from me very gently.
If there is a legitimate rescue or adopter who can rehab him- we will go back in to see if we can find out more about him.
    He is a sad story.

The good news is that a humane society in Indiana is willing to take/rehab him. MSB will hopefully pull him this weekend and get him to the vet for boarding, URI treatment, and bath. If you are interested in helping him on his journey, he has a fundable page in place: http://www.fundable.com/groupactions...-01.5420864374 (The goal includes a donation to the receiving humane society.)

    Thanks for reading!

    Thanks, Phred!

For anyone interested, there has been an update on the fundable page - a little more information about who and what is trying to be accomplished.

    Pledges so far = $ 1,410.

    Here's the Plan:
Rebecca, is the executive director of the Hamilton County Humane Society in Indiana.
Rebecca has not only the desire and facilities to provide a chance for this guy,
but also works with a trainer that is going to take him into her home
and make his daily rehab her priority.

Please consider giving whatever you can.
    THANKS!

    Funds Pledged = $ 1,580

    The Immediate Plan >>>

    Hi All,

My name is Kelly Gibson, I'm a rescuer in San Diego. I saw the picture on the Mutt Scouts

blog as well and went up to the shelter on Friday to visit with the dog.
I have found someone in IN who is willing to take him.
She is with the Humane Society for Hamilton County and she works with a trainer
who is willing to give this boy the care he needs to get him ready to go into a home.

My hope is that we (meaning myself and the Mutt Scouts) will be able to pull him

Sunday or Monday and I will be taking him to my vet, Animal Medical Center in El Cajon.
I have booked reservations there for him for 2 weeks because he has an
Upper Respiratory Infection that will need to be treated and cleared
before he can travel to Indiana.

The funds we are requesting are for boarding, to treat his URI, update his shots

and issue a health certificate. In addition, we are going to attempt to fly him via
Pet Airways so he can ride in the cabin of the plane, so money will be needed for his ticket.
He will need to be neutered once he arrives in IN. He also has a mass on his back
that needs to be removed. These two medical issues are being handled in IN because
the humane society can get such great rates on quality care. These medical costs
plus his training and room & board before he finds his forever home are what
we are hoping to offset with this Fundable.

Mutt Scouts is a 501c3 so your donations are tax-deductible. Whatever is left over

after paying to get him to IN will be turned over to the Humane Society there
for his ongoing care and rehabilitation.

He does not yet have a name, so we would like to ask those who donate

    to also make suggestions.

I apologize that this site has not yet been updated with all of this information.

You can view the humane society's website here: http://www.hamiltonhumane.com/

If you want to know who the heck *I* am, my websites are here:

And I think some of you have already found the Mutt Scouts' pages:

Thank you for your consideration and support.

    Kelly

That poor dog. I cannot inmagine his life before being picked up.

I can't think of a more deserving case. If he could gain even one week of
peace & happiness, it would be worth it. Thanks for the info zippy-kat.
