    Cats and gardening!

I have started a little garden in the back yard and have taken the steps to clear up some of the rocks and twigs in the soil.

I break up the soil, then shovel the dirt onto a screen. The dirt that falls thru the screen is a coarse soil that I mix with some compost and it makes a nice base for planting.

As I was sitting out and watching the day end I noticed my feral friend, Ms. Kitty walking back from a little exploration.

As I sat there she walked right past my pile o' dirt, stops, backtracks and goes to the top of the heap.

I talk to her and say, "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DO WHAT I THINK YOU ARE GOING TO DO!!!!"

    Yep,
She carefully took a paw and hollowed out a nice crater..

I kept up my monologue as to try and distract her and get her to do her business someplace else.

    Nope, no way.....

Done digging, she gingerly points her backside away from me-who knew cats were prim and proper?- and does a number two into the hole, then turns away to bury it.

She then didn't have the decency to walk by me!

She took another route past and left me laughing and careful about the nice little surprises I may find in my next round of gardening.

Now I have to pay attention when I start tossing my dirt around.

    It's been SOILED!

    da KAT Box ...

Back in the Way-Back Daze ...

Dad built Sis & me and the Naybur Kid a nice BIG Sandy Box at the back
of our yard. Had a mountain of fresh sand that made nice sand castles.

Nunbuddie factored in the the Nayburs also had "Priscilla" ---
    One each Inside/OUTside Kitty Kat.

The New Sandy Box wasn't in service for more than a week before we began
to discover strange WET SPOTS in the castle moats AND "Tootsie Rolls"
    burried in the castle walls.

We gathered a bucket of "evidence" and consulted with Mom ...

"You kids stay OUT of the Sandy Box till you Father sees this!"

Dad got a new weekend job ~~~ Head Sandy/KAT Box Sand Sifter.

    C&S,

Like "Don't eat snow" - "Don't play in wet sand"?

    -----------------------------

Now I'll have to check out the area before I go in, like those soldiers that would use a bayonet to find land mines?

I do know that my two raised beds where I've planted tomatos and cucumbers were well "fertilized" by Joxer earlier in the spring.

ah - the joy of gardening.

These are not the droids you were looking for

We had to cope with the neighborhood strays using the veggie garden, as well. The veggie garden is inside the fenced in back yard. Up until 2 years ago it was a problem, then they stopped coming around.

    Hmmm, 2 years ago I adopted the first of my dogs . . . . .

When I first moved here there was a sandly area of the yard that was once a sand pit that was once very popular with the neighborhood, until Erp showed up and started defending her territory. Then the dogs liked digging in it for the buried treasure. Now its been grown over and is part of my yard.
    I have a HUGE SIG!!!!

"YOUR pile of dirt ..." ???

It seems that the ownership, or at least the Control,
of "YOUR pile of dirt" just might be in question.

Have you checked your deed lately?
