Vela, do the horses have wraps around their lower legs? They look like leg warmers, which shows you how little I know about horses. Are they protective wraps for the horses' legs? I noticed that one horse in the video had a braided tail, and a couple of the others did not. The horses are so full of spirit! They are just gorgeous. Thank you for these!

I saw the Royal Lipizzan stallions once, probably 25 years ago. Right around this time of year - I think we took my grandmother for Mother's Day. She loved it. My mom loves horses so I will happily show her these pictures and videos!

The horses have shipping boots on their legs, they are protection. They horses spend a lot of their time in the trailers traveling and those offer support and protection.

One horse has a braided tail and mane. He is the Andalusian stallion for their show. He shows off the spanish "dancing". The Lipizzaner is a desecendant of the Andalusian, Barbs (Arabian type horses), and Berbers.

For those who don't know about them, the Lipizzaner horses come from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna Austria. They do the "airs above the ground", the "mounted quadrille", and make great dressage horses. They were also the horses saved by General Patton during WWII when he sent American troops in to rescue the breeding mares over enemy lines.

    Great videos and pictures.
I love the way a couple of the stallions came in prancing and others were nice and calm.
In the first video I think you said that Diva's stall is almost next to where the stallions are, I hope someone will be sleeping in the barn with the horses otherwise she may have a fling with one of those handsome horses and you could end up with a cute little surprise next spring.

I hope you will be able to take some pictures and videos of their performance that you go to.
    RIP sweet Samantha

Thank you, Vela for the info and the You Tube video. I didn't know they participate in activities other than dressage. How neat that they serve as therapy horses for cancer patients. And I didn't know that they can be colors other than the grey/white that's so familiar. Just beautiful. Thank you so much! My mom lo-ooo-ves horses so I will be sure to show her these.

They are such beautiful animals!!! I grew up with horses, as my Dad was in the Governor's Horse Guard. Every summer I spend a weekend with my best friend at her beach house in Niantic. It's right down the street from Camp Rell and it's always the weekend that the Horse Guard is there. They actually block off a portion of the land so the horses can graze. I am in awe of them.

Too bad I can't join the Horse Guard and carry on my Dad's legacy. I love horses but can't ride for $hit.

Vela had taken more pictures but has had such a tremendous amount of things she is dealing with she just hasn't been able to post them, so I offered to post them for her as I know she wanted to share them. So here are more pictures of the horses. I believe she also went to the show last night and was going to try and get some pics/videos.

    Sleepy boy

The mark on his hip is a special brand. Umm.. I can't remember exactly what she told me it meant, I think that he is from the original lines in Europe, but she will probably need to refresh my memory.

She said this guy kept wanting attention.

    Just a few more.

Thanks for posting those Jess, I have been running ragged. I do have pics and video of the show, sometimes they didn't come out so great because of the spotlights, but I got some good ones as well. Have not had time to upload them, etc, but I will get to it soon and post it. Was very neat.

Thanks Jess for the great sig of my kids!

Omg... they are breath-taking! You are sooo lucky! I think Lipizzaners are my favorite breed of horse, right up with Norwegian Fjords.
