Thread: Lyme Medication will not stay down.

Lyme Medication will not stay down.

Brodi's will throw up his Doxycycline unless his stomach is full. He only eats once a day & he must take 2 pills twice a day. Because of this he hasn't been getting his full dose. Like anything treated with an antibiotic the Lyme symptoms have now returned stronger. So now we must give more.
Does anyone have any suggestions on helping to keep it down?

Is it available as an injection that you can give him?

    I second that one.

If you feed half as much in the morning he should be hungry and eat his meal in the evening so he can get both doses of his meds.

Doxy should always be taken with food and honestly even so, it is so much better for a dog to have multiple feedings a day. Cut his food in half and give once in the morning and once in the evening.

Just like humans, more feedings in smaller amounts is much healthier.
