    Anyone want a Malinois?

This was posted in the rescue sectoin of another forum.

I think in the right home they would work.

Male and Female Malinois. Pet Quality only. These pups will not work and need some one on one attention. They were 8-9 weeks old before they even saw a human. I picked them up from North Carolina, thought I had the time to put into them, but unfortunately, I dont. I hate seeing them sit in the kennel and would prefer they go to a home where they can be couch potatoes. They have been around children and other dogs. Paid $600.00 per pup, but its my loss. I would rather see them go to homes than sit in a kennel while I tried to sell them and get my money back, so I am placing them for $50.00 each.

The post doesn't make sense to me...I don't understand how she says she doesn't have the time to put into them, but thinks they should end up as couch potatoes? Doesn't seem to take a lot of work to turn a dog into that. They're beautiful dogs, but the post confuses me. :/

Maybe they mean they'd rather the dogs be couch potatoes than sit in kennels all day. Because it does say "I hate seeing them sit in the kennel".
I dunno. But they are beautiful dogs.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

It sounds like they're breeder-bought. I would encourage the owner of these dogs to check the contract and check whether or not s/he must return the dogs to the breeder.

Also, by "won't work", what venue is s/he talking about? I also wouldn't use Craigslist. Breed rescue would by my second suggestion.

This does sound a little off. I wonder if they were a breeding pair that
    didn't work out.

How about calling your local police department to see if they might be able to train as police dogs. It's worth a try.

BTW, where ya been? I was thinking about you and the nekkid boys and wondered how you are.

They aren't near me they are in the states somewhere, I was just crost posting because I saw someone that was interested in the breed.

Donna I couldn't stand not being able to share my opinion without getting bashed, all the little cliques and getting threats to be banned for my spelling and grammar so I moved onto better things...
I come on every so often to lurk and check things but I rarley post unless I have something to say that I can't get banned for..

They're beautiful.. gosh, 2 Malinois pups! That was *very* ambitious.. 1 full grown adult is hard enough.. I can't imagine two!

Poor dogs. I don't understand the ad fully either. I hope they find good homes.

I posted the ad on Belg-L and contacted the malinois rescue. I don't think they should be returned to their breeder if they went without socialisation for that long, and if they won't work for the owner then police work is probably not going to be an option. Of course it could just be what the owner is saying, but Belg-L will likely get to the bottom of it. Lots of malinois breeders on the list.

Not to be a spoilsport, but shouldn't the breeder be involved in this, regardless of whether or not the dogs can physically be returned? I know of many breeders who have scouted out new homes for dogs they bred years ago and are thousands of miles away. In my opinion (and theirs), that's a whole lot better than giving the current owner of the dogs full discretion because there's a lot of room for error and deception.

Or maybe I'm just a really skeptical type of person Regardless, I hope the dogs find good homes. They are beautiful but the law says I'm at my city's limit haha!

Well turns out the poster was less than honest. It is a working dog person who has been starving these dogs. They are being turned over to rescue as we speak.

That is sick! I'm glad they figured this out! Maybe these dog will have a chance at a decent lie.
