After my Mutt died on the 26th, the house was empty except for three cats looking bored and sad. Mutt had been dying for about 3 months, we knew that and dealt with it. We decided to let him die peacefully at home after being reassured by his vet that he was dying from old age, and not in pain. We could talk about Mutt and laugh at the good times so when an oppurtunity knocked, we took it.
My husband was looking through Craigslist when he came across a "free to good home" ad.
It said "found wandering the neighborhood, 1-1˝ year old intact male Bassett Hound. Exhausted every avenue to find his owners and nobody came to claim him. We can't keep him..."
I emailed, we went to meet him and brought him home. He's the biggest lush I've ever met, housebroke, hasn't "aroooo'd" once except for when a cat got too close, and he doesn't table beg too bad. He follows me everywhere, doesn't chew, and knows where his bed is.
Looking at him, you can see he's a little wonky as one eye is set lower and the vet says he may straighten out but we like little quirky imperfections anyway...
So, introducing Moose, so named by my father inlaw when we couldn't decide between Jasper or Charlie, haha. Oh, and he will be neutered as soon as possible!!
For those wondering...no, Mutt has not been, and never could be, replaced. We just have lots of love...
