No shopping on Sunday. I'm having work done on my house tomorrow and I have to be here all day, so I decided to shop for groceries, make a return and go to Bed Bath and Beyond. Bad decision. At BB&B, I purchased only 2 items totaling $10.16. I gave the checkout guy a 20 dollar bill and two dimes, totaling $20.20, because I didn't have exact change and I didn't want a bunch of change back either. Sigh. He didn't know how to make change, which is sad, because the cash register made it for him. He read what I was supposed to get back, $10.04, but he gave me $9.89. I said "This isn't right" and I told him what I should get back but he said "I'll have to call someone". He called her over and she couldn't figure it out either. I wanted to just let it go at that point but I figured I may as well see it through to the end. She finally figured it out, the kid said "Sorry, I'm new" and I said "No harm done. It'll get easier as you go" and she said to him "It isn't your fault". Wait. What? Then whose fault is it? Certainly not mine. And not the cash register's. Sooooo, it must be his, right? I don't even like the word 'fault' because we all make mistakes but I guess my commentary is about the fact that, even w/the cash register making the correct change for this kid, he still couldn't get it right.
Then I went for groceries and you all know my feelings about leaving the cart in the aisle while you go to hunt for your groceries and then bringing them back to your cart rather than pushing the cart like a normal person. Well, today people decided to get baskets instead of carts, leave the baskets on the floor, hunt for their groceries and bring them to the basket. One woman was doing a balancing act w/her groceries and, of course, they fell all over the floor. It could've been avoided had she carried the basket w/her as common sense would dictate. Then came check out time. I asked "Can you please double bag the two half gallons of milk?" The answer was "We're really not supposed to double bag. I can put each one in a separate bag for you", which she did, and then I removed one and put it in the bag w/the other one and double bagged it myself. Same amount of bags except easier to carry. Good grief. I feel like I entered Bizzaro World.
