    So sad. RIP doggies.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I agree with the Mayor in this article about the deaths. No officer should
take a lunch break with a truck full of animals. Drop them off & THEN go
    eat lunch.

He should be fired or at least suspended for an extended period of time.

    Update Sept 10

Extreme heat alarms being added to BARC trucks to prevent more dog deaths

HOUSTON -- Just weeks after eight dogs died after being left in the back of a BARC truck, the City of Houston is deploying new technology to prevent a similar incident in the future.

The new air conditioning alarm can be seen on the top of this BARC truck. It includes an audio as well as visual alert system.

11 News got a look Wednesday morning at “air conditioning alarms” being installed over the next three weeks on all of the Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care trucks.

The alarms are designed to go off whenever the temperature inside animal holding cages exceeds safety thresholds. It includes an audible alarm, a flashing light inside the cab and on top of the truck, as well as a paging feature that will alert the driver even if they have left the vehicle.
