i got a new cat and my acts actin different.. help

i have had my old cat for a year now and she has been around 1 or 2 cats but she tried to fight with them well i found a kitten and she so lovable and sweet.. but my cat babigirl keeps on hissing at her. so it makes the kitten hiss back.. but i can tell that they wont 2 get near each other but they just wont do it.. the kitten has been around other cats i know that for sure..
oh yeah there both girls i wonted 2 know would they ever like each other and how long will that take...

It takes time for them to be friendlier with each other. The kitten should have her own room so they can sniff under the door. Put her food and water in there, and a small litterbox. You can make a temporary litter box out of a cut-down cardboard box.

Also, help them get used to each other's scent. You can wear an old t shirt and cuddle the older cat a lot, and then put that shirt in with the kitten.

Wear a different shirt to cuddle the kitten a lot, then put that shirt where your older cat will smell it a lot, like a favourite sleeping place.

Try introducing them several days after you separate the kitten from your older cat. Even when they start getting along, there will be some hissing as the older cat lets the little one know who's boss!

Has your kitten been to the vet for a checkup yet?

I am sure they will get along, given a little time.

Everything Catty1 said is just perfect -- you need to get these kitties away from one another so that they can get used to each other slowly. Even when you DO introduce them again, the times together at first need to be just brief and as low-stress and happy as you can make them.

And don't underestimate the amount of TIME this is going to take! We want so much for our pets to love each other as much as we love them -- but they'll do it on their own time.

It will take weeks (or maybe even months!) of gradually getting them used to each other -- and even though it seems like a huge pain in the neck to do that now, it's the only way to go. Otherwise, they'll get used to their interactions being stressful with hissing and hostility -- and that is NO good, I promise.

She said in this other post that her "old" cat got out, came back and was acting "crazy", not sure if she was wounded or pregnant. She said that cat also doesn't like other cats.

Not sure why she's surprised by the behavior of her old cat toward the new cat if she said this previously.

I hope she takes the advice and keeps them separate.

Also hope she gets BOTH of them to the vet.

Thanks for linking to that first posting -- it adds a lot of information that I, at least, didn't have! This poster sounds like a very young and possibly fairly inexperienced cat owner -- so I hope she takes everyone's advice!

I think Jenn Librarian is absolutely right, and that the HUGE first priority for right now is to get BOTH cats to the vet right away!
