Thread: Off to the whitecoats.....

    Off to the whitecoats.....

Well, someone has to go for her annual checkup, but it's with an added twist this year.

The other day while wrestling with Lady, I noticed something odd on her upper gumline. After much coercion, I got a look at it. She has a lump a little bigger than a squashed pea on her gumline. It's not an abcess, and after talking to the vet it's most likely benign, but it should go.

This creates a problem, because Lady HATES the vet's (Yes, all the usual tricks have been tried, to no avail). She gets defensive and nippy when anyone but me tries to handle her in the vet's office. The last time we went, it took 3 people to clip toenails.(Something probably to do with a less than gentle vet visit when she was a puppy. If someone walked up behind me and shoved a thermometer in me without even a hello I'd get a little irritated too) Sooooooo....

Monday morning, I have to go to the vet's office and pick up a tranquilizer, then Wednesday it's off to the whitecoats for a hopefully sedated, calm neurotic pup. Should be a fun visit.

I hope it turns out to be nothing but, do agree it should probably be
removed & examined. Good luck Lady & please be a good dog, ok.

Poor Lady! Hopefully she does better on tranquilizers than her daddy does! Otherwise Jenn and Axel may have to help get Lady in and out of the truck!

I hope it's not serious and good luck with the visit. I have a pup just like that, Lacey. No one will look in her mouth without sedation, including us.

I'm *very thankful* that every Dawg & Kat I've ever taken to the White Coat's Place -
even "borrowed" or "fostered" pooches; ALWAYS looked at the trip as a
Great Adventure with endless possibilities for *skritches* & *TREATS*!

Here's hoping that with Lady 'higher than a kite', she might not earn another
"Red Sticker" on her folder this trip.

    Thanks for answering, Phred.

Initially it was supposed to be last week, but various complications arose.

Wednesday morning we get to see how well Lady responds to Tranquilizers, hopefully better than her dad....

    Tranquilizer?

There was a dose of tranquilizer in that hot dog?

    You sure., dad?

Someone was as off the wall as usual, waiting for a pre-surgical appt to remove the lump. They're going to add a touch to the dose next time.

Ah well, I guess she doesn't respond to "relaxers" like her dad does, more like me!

I hope everything goes well anyway, and the only one requiring bandages at the end is Lady because the lump is gone ...

NOW the durned tranquilizer hits her!!!

I'm sitting here on the couch, Lady's on the floor, letting tha KITTY curl up next to dad.

She was on the couch, and kinda oozed onto the floor.

At least now we know how long it takes to hit her for the next visit.

Ah well, chalk it up up to experience. For those who don't know, kitties are NOT normally allowed near dad on the couch. That's why his username is Lady's Human - he belongs to the dog, in her mind!

    I'm confused with the schedule.

    MONDAY - get the pill
    TUESDAY - give the pill?
WEDNESDAY - what happens today, and when does the surgery take place?

I don't know if dogs are like cats, but it seems that whenever we have given pain meds or tranquilizers to our cats it revs them up instead of slowing them down.

    Monday-get the pills

    Tuesday-Give dad the pills (J/K)

Wednesday- Vet appt., pills didn't follow the schedule, dog off the wall at the vet (as usual)

Waiting for a surgery estimate and pre-surgical appointment.
