    ODD Behavior

I walk/jog my 2 dogs side by side every morning for 5 miles, we come to this open grassy field and i let them play for a bit, what has been really odd is they would play and then wander then at times they would stop and smell something then they would roll on the scent, like trying to rub the scent on them, and they do it until I stop them and drag them away. Is there a reason for this, is it a bad thing or good thing.

I think all dogs do this, it's a natural thing with dogs. The smellier the spot the more they enjoy the roll. Some dogs do it more than others. I find males are worse than females.

    It's not odd at all!
My female is faaaaar worse than my male is.

Bunny poo seems to be her favorite scent! But she won't ever pass up a dead stinky animal that's for sure!
But what I don't mind her rolling on are dryer sheets.
When I go down the basement and open the dryer to fold clothes, she'll wait behind me till the dryer sheet to fall on the floor. As soon as it does she grabs it and runs upstairs with it and rolls on it. THAT... I don't mind!
The poo and dead animals... I Do mind!

This is natural for a dog to do, it's gross, but it's natural. The reason for this is because when stalking a prey in the wild, they would stalk sometimes for a while and when the prey would defecate, the dog would then roll themselves in it, to disguise thier scent.

I agree, they do love to roll in stinky.

It's a challenge at the beach, boat landing, where inconsiderate fisherpeople toss their 'pieces' on the ground. A dog will roll in stinky fish remains.
