    Sneezing issues

Well we have had my cat for about seven years. He has always sneezed sometimes leaving large boogers on our walls and doors. We are use to scraping them off. I wonder if he suffers some sinus or allergies and what would the vet might do or say. I know its possible for cats to take small dosage of anti-depressants but I am curious if they can do that with allergy issues as well. Stormy sneezes all seasons and I have only seen one cat worse off than him. Any advise?

I have a 16 year old Tortie, Mollie Rose, who does that. It was so frustrating. Like running after a sneezing with a tissue to wipe her nose. I took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with kitty allergies. He took xrays of her sinuses to see of there were polyps and there were none. He put her on a dose of Prednisone and Clavamox which helped for a long time. But she's doing it again, and I'm just attributing it to the nice weather we've had these past few days.

Before the vet, I was giving her Chlortrimeton once a day to help with the sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose. It worked great. I'd also use "Little Noses" Saline Drops to help clear her stuffy nose. You can get that at any drugstore. Make sure it is SALINE and not the medicated stuff.

Hope your kitty feels better soon.

My tortie/Maine coone mix Pidgie is sneezing up a storm again, too. I called my vet yesterday and was advised to put her back on Clindamycin. When she had sneezing fits last time, the Clindamycin cleared it up. She sneezed so hard that she actually got a nosebleed! I also have saline drops that I squirt into her nose. (Yeah, right. More like that I squirt and hope to get it somewhere close to her face. )
    Blessings,
    Mary

Well if the Chlortrimeton and Saline drops don't work, I'll see about getting vet see what might help him.

My Smudge has never been a real sneezer, but when he moved in he wheezed often and snored all the time. Now that he's getting Chlor-Trimeton (actually just generic chlorpheniramine - same stuff, better price) for skin-based allergies, he doesn't wheeze or snore at all.

Well I tried the Chlortrimeton last night My parents take it for their allergies. We all have allergies at this house I usually am good with over counter stuff. I smashed the pill and put it some wet food and he hasn't been sneezing, snorting or just lieing on his back with his head pressed to the ground. Lately he has been doing that almost all day and I think his sinus's are really getting to him. Last night he actually acting his old self and wanted to play. Thanks for the advice its working well.
