I do! And I remember the episode in which Tuschman let JAG have it for his comments about ethnicity. What happened to Amy, the winner? Did her show ever go to air? The only show I'm really glued to on the Food Network is "Unwrapped". I don't like Guy Fieri. I also don't like Duff Goldman, the Ace of Cakes. I love to see the cakes they do, but I just don't like him.

I love this thread!!!! I can't get enough of people's opinions here at PT

Elyse, I think Amy's show is on Sunday at 1:00 OR 1:30 EST. I've seen it a couple of times. It was ok but not great. I was hoping the other girl would win. Oh well
Giada and Delicioso.......enough of the cleavage already. The way Giada uses her hands and enunciates words to death is enough to make you want to barf.

Lobodeb: Thanks for your comments----I loved them All right on!!

The Neely's--when will poor Pat ever get a word in edgewise? I get tired of Gina jumping in front of the camera and ordering him around like a slave.

Is anybody watching the Food Network Challenge? I love some of the recipes and I can't wait to go to TGI Fridays to try some of them.

It seems to me that Guy Fieri is taking over the network, one show at a time. He's all over the place.

I am begging for new Iron Chef shows. Please!!!!!???

Just yesterday, I was wondering why Ina Garten entertains so many men and why does her husband Jeffrey have to spend so much time out of town??

TOP CHEF has started, so I am pleased....

The Gourmet Next Door was pulled from Sat morning rotation. I haven't seen hide nor hair of it. I was suprised that Amy won.....

Tuschman raked her over the coals for the BISTRO references everytime. The pilot of the show was terrible.....she said "You know" about 50 times.

    ----------
The word on the wind is that some of RR's old programs have been shelved
because of the age and she isn't doing any more new ones because of her
    talk show/train wreck.

I had to laugh about her including her hubby on that one program. She'd NEELY him all the time....

Ugh, RR has this new saying that my mom was telling me about-she call all the food 'KIDS'- I watched a segment where she was cooking a soup and said, 'Come on kids, into the pool!" I thought for a minute and flashed to the old Jessica Simpson reality show.

Another program was showing film clips of it -Talk Soup?- and they played a segment where JS told her hubby that she was going to "Drop some kids into the pool"- going to the bathroom to do a number 2!

I started to laugh......Now whenever I see RR I think about her "dropping kids into the pool" or a pot of soup.

    -----------

    O.K.

    Here is the Giada 'throwdown'.....

My mom was watching when I passed thru her house. She asked me what was the deal with her that day.

I looked and noticed that she has a definite "body type". I told her that there was something about her proportions. Check it out when she wears sleeveless apparel.....Jokingly I told Ma that she had dinosaur arms....
Now my mom calls her GEICO-like the Geico gecko....

I did see one the other night where they actually showed people eating the cake. And there was a funny one last week where the Jeff guy had done a cupola cake for some college's anniversary celebration, and the president of the college declared "No one eat the cake! I want the students to see it!!" Jeff looked at the camera and said "It's cake, people! Cake is to be eaten!"

Dunno about "cake waste" when they carve out the shapes, I'm sure one can only eat so much "bread pudding," "trifles," etc. made from cake scraps before never wanting to eat it again ... maybe it goes to a pig farm? Surely there must be one in the area ... (Okay, maybe not. When I was a kid, all our food trash was put in a separate barrel, and picked up by the pig farm's trucks every week.)

What do y'all think of "Everyday Food" on public television? In Chicago, it's on WTTW. It's a production of Martha Stewart Enterprises. It's too Martha for me. I guess I just miss the Frugal Gourmet.

I was just thinking about Dan Aykroyd's imitation of Julia Child on Saturday Night Live, "I've cut the dickens out of my finger!"

I like EF.....It's more food and less personality.

The FG got into a little trouble way back when. I don't think he'll be on the tube anytime soon. Apparently he took the term "spooning" a little to literally!

    Karen,

I missed that episode. But think of this! Charm City cake packaged trifles, now in you refridgerated food section? There probably isn't enough extra cake for huge distribution, but I am sure that people would be willing to pay a few bucks extra for the product??

LB, What would we call Gini's program? Cooking on Booze?

I'd settle for a trifle and an honorable mention!

    ------------

    About the TVFN Food Challenges.

I read that the restaurant industry was taking it on the chin because of the economic climate.

    The promotion is pretty brilliant.

A new menu that covers the whole range of food.

You promote it as a contest, pay 25,000 dollars for the rights to those recipes and sell them at TGI Fridays.

At 10 bucks a plate for the main courses and 2.50 for a piece of cake, pie..you recoup the prize money and make a profit after 2,000 plates.

The thing that got me were the 2nd and 3rd place prizes......Freaking cookwear? Toss them some love, a coupla grand and a gift certificate to TGIFs maybe?

Why do some of the soundtracks/theme music for the TVFN shows sound like bad porn music?

The RR intro theme to 30 mninute meals makes me want to scream....If I am flipping thru the channels and hear it I cringe!

Don't ask me why I think this.
    ------------------

The Next TVFN humiliation starts on Sunday! I can hardly wait to see how Booby Flake and Mr Tushman treat the next round of talent!

I saw the previews and they is a gal that takes a header in the kitchen....
    Lovely!

I can see it know...Hey, aren't you the gal that fell in the kitchen during that cooking contest?

If I were to enter one of these things - that would be me. Maybe SHE had half her sense of balance surgically removed, too, and we'll get a nice PSA on hidden disabilities? Or maybe, like me prior to said surgery, she is just a klutz anyway.

    Should be interesting, anyway ...

Did anyone see Paula's Party last night? Rosie O'Donnell was her guest--at least at the beginning, I had to turn the channel. Paula was acting ridiculous and Rosie was acting worse than usual. The two of them together was more than I could take. It was obnoxious.

    DUDE!

WTF was with the playing with her hair in the kitchen?

I saw that part and followed your lead. Told you, PD is the obnoxious aunt that gets to drinking at your holiday parties and hits on all the men.

    OH, OH!

What is the idea of sticking her fingers into the mouths of men that she invites on stage with her- that's really gross-unless it's your wife or hubby-but a total stranger?

    ----------

    About the NFNS-

I had to laugh at the first challenge. Cook your signature dish and make up another dish with your team mate.

Cooking is from the soul......It's love and care.

How can they judge a signature dish cooked in a half hour? Oh, I forgot, the Terrorist rachael ray can do it!

I failed the test....It takes me at least four hours to think about my signature dish.
