Indestructable Dog Collars?

Is there such a thing? Henna's collar is just fine, but she has chewed off both Dottie and Cocos! I need to get some new ones for all the dogs, but I want something that Miss Henna can't "sink her teeth into"!

As far as I know there isn't such a thing, there are companies like Rogz or Lupine that will guarantee the collars but none that can't be destroyed, except of course for choke chains or metal prong collars.

The only thing I can suggest is for the dogs not to wear collars when they are playing with each other, that way they can't chew on each others collars. Besides it's actually safer for them not to play with a collar on because there is the odd chance that a jaw or some other body part could be caught in the other dogs collar while playing which could hurt one if not both dogs. That's one of the reasons that dogs at my work have all collars and harnesses removed before entering a play room.

That would be basically all the time! LOL! I have to have a way to keep their collars on so that their rabies tags are on them. Maybe I should go to harnesses instead? Of course, I'm sure Henna would just as soon chew a harness off as a collar. I know the microchips are an option for ID, but our local pound probably doesn't check for those, plus even if they did, I would still be fined for not having their tags on them. Our county is so quick to fine and KILL!

Collar mania has some very nice, great quality, sturdy collars..not industructuble by any means but are very tough...Lisa always does a great job..

I know how you feel. Fozzie chewed the buckle off of Gonzo's brand spanking new Rogz harness, when he was a puppy, within 30 seconds.

I feel that leather collars are the best, as far as durability and longevity. Gonzo's rolled leather collar is practically flawless after years.

I'm also paranoid and keep my dogs collars on them all the time just in case something happens. Maybe she would be less likely to chew on a leather studded collar? They are pricey though...

3mutts, I loved the spiked leather collars that came in nice colors, but I am not going to pay $50 for collar! All of my dogs need them!

Maybe try some Bitter Orange (I believe thats what it's called). It's supposed to have a bitter (duh) taste dogs don't like. It's worth a shot.

Go for Lupine. If it's chewed you can get it replaced for free.

I'd go with nylon Lupine collars as well. That way if Henna does chew them, they'll be replaced for free. I'd also invest in some bitter apple (I find it works better than the citrus ones like the orange, or lime available) and spray it on the collars - that might deter her. You definitely need to work on getting her to stop grabbing the other dogs' collars somehow as that behaviour has the potential to be dangerous, as I'm sure you know.

Thanks for the suggestion for the Lupine, Kay and Orangutango! Where can I find them? Is Lupine the brand or the material the collar is made of?
