    Adopting a New Baby

    I will be picking up a new addition to my family tomorrow. She is a manx kitten. I believe she is 8 - 9 weeks old. I currently have a female gray DSH (Ketzala) thats three. Do you have any advise for introducing the two? Also I have never had a manx, is there anything special I should know about the breed.

    I will post her pic when I get her. I CAN'T WAIT! We will be a house of three happy girls!
    I love Ketzala and she loves me!!

    First of all Welcome to Pet Talk & enjoy all the talks & pics..

    Second of all Congrats on your new wittle baby's arrival.. Oh Yes pics please..

    Third of all = Manx are just like the other babies, but just with no tail.. Normally adult cats will accept babies very easy.. Just intro them real slow & give them lots of space & time to get to know each other.. I am sure they will be just fine & in no time be good buddies.. Good Luck

    ~~~Thank You Very Much {Kim} kimlovescats for the Grand Siggy~~~
    I don't personally have a manx, but my friend does. He had some, for a lack of a better phrase, poopy problems. She took him to the vet and learned that it can be sort of a common thing with the manx family. I don't remember exactly what he was diagnosed with though. Also, she mentions that she sometimes needs to help keep him clean by wiping with a damp paper towel. I'm not sure if that is a manx trait specifically or not. It may be that she notices it more also because there is no tail.
    I hope you enjoy your new addition!
    I've heard about the potty problems as well, although I believe it was more along the lines of the cats that had really short tails, and if there had been spinal injury, which could lead to bowel control problems or habits.
    I had a manx when I was younger, and she was great. She bunny hopped a lot, and had a bit more of a stubb of a tail. They tend to be more boxy and compact in build than other breeds. All in all, very nice cats.
    INTRODUCING A NEW KITTEN SOMETIMES CAN BE A BREEZE, DEPENDING ON HOW YOUR CAT TAKES TO THE FRANTIC ACTIVITY TAHT A KITTEN WILL BRING WHEN SHE ENTERS YOUR HOME.
    THE OLDER CAT MIGHT NOT CARE FOR BEING CHASED , BUT MANX ARE FAIRLY MELLOW CAT, AND I BET TAHT THEY WILL BE CURLING TOGETHER VERY SOON.
    IT DEPENDS OF COURSE TOO, ON HOW SOON THE LITTLE CAT REALIZES THAT THE OLDER CATS TAIL IS NOT A TOY.
