    Basher (Horse) portrait in progress.

    Hi

I normally post in the dog forum because thats what i have and post dog paintings that I am doing also but being as this isn't a dog, I can't post it there but somebody did ask me if I'd post it here once I started it. I can't remember the persons name now.

Anyway, this is Basher. He is my sisters horse and is an Irish Draught x although he has been mistaken for an andalusian insome of his photos. He's quite photogenic.
My sister asked me if I'd paint his portrait for her as an xmas present. I haven't done yet but I have a few progress photos as I've been working through it.

The first photo is of the reference photos I took arranged in the composition I decided upon. The second onwards are the painting in progress. I'll post further updates as I get there.

    The start of the painting.

Then I started on the head study first.

    More in next post.

Absolutely beautiful!! What medium are you using - oils? acrylics? watercolor?

I will be anxious to see the finished painting. I think your sister is going to love it! I sure would.

I can't wait to see the finished product.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Impressive! You do amazing work... I remember seeing some dog paintings a little while ago that were equally as nice.

    Thanks everyone.

Been staying up until ungodly hours in the morning working on this thing. Got to bed about 4am last night and had me mum whinging about it today, haha. It's currently 2:32am and I'm off after this, lol.

The bottom Basher isn't done yet. He's taking ages...lol. Still plenty of work to do on his body.
