8 test photos from my new Nikon D80

As some of you know hubby just got me the Nikon D80 that I have been wanting. It has only been 3 days since I got it but have been trying to get a grasp of the basics. I went yesterday and took over 200 photos of this, that, everything and nothing. There is nothing fantastic by any means but they are pretty decent considering I am just getting to know the camera. I just used the lens that came in the kit this time it is a Nikor 18-135 mm and the built in flash when needed. I am going to give the Tamron a try in the next few days and see what I can come up with.

    Anyway here are the pics.

#1. This photo was taken at about 10:30 at night. It isn't great but I like it. I like the shadow and light in it.

#2. This was taken yesterday. We went to the river so I could take so shots. I love the colors and the detail of the reflection on the water. Just gives me a tranquil feeling.

#3. I really like the colors in this one too as well and the shadow and light and the reflection off the water.

#4. I used manual mode here and I changed the ISO to make it darker to give it a more dramatic look. I may not be great but I like it.

    4 more coming

#5. After we left the river we went to a spot that has a small hiking trail. I just loved the way this looked. I still do.

#6. Kinda self explanatory. Just a stump of a tree with moss growing on it.

#7. I like the effect this picture gives. The colors and light and shadow.

#8. We were driving home and I wanted to take a picture or 2 of this. It is right on the side of the road. The roses are wild roses. With all the growth in the background it looks like a little paradise to me.

That's all. Hope you enjoyed them.

    Michelle

Those pictures look exceptionally crisp and clear. Hope we will see more of your experimentation with the new camera.

Thank you guys so much. I wasn't going to say anything until I knew for sure I was accepted but I will anyway. It is killing me not telling anyone.

Hubby bought me the camera cause I am intending to go to the Italian Institute of Photography in Milan next October. I need to put together a portfolio and he wanted me to get to know my camera well before the time came for me to go. I have a year to learn the ins and outs of my camera before going to Milan to study. In the meantime you guys will probably be getting new photos on a weekly or bi-weekly basis so I can get some input and opinions and critisms. Hope you all don't mind.

    Thank you all again.
