    Field trip Thursday-229!

How's about a field trip to a "pick your own" fruit farm?

It's almost time to pick apples, pumpkins and ????

    --------------

Grab your gloves, your hats and sunscreen.....

I'll pull the bus around to the front and everyone pile in!

    -----------

Got the Orc to load up some sandwiches and beer in the coolers!

    Yes,
Mario, you can work the bus door....

    OH,

Have you ever had a prickly pear?

IT's not a pear, but the fruit of a cactus......delicious! We'll have to look for some!

Woohoo! I love this time of year.

I wonder if there are any berries left on the blackberry and raspberry bushes. Raspberries are my fave!

Never! Happy to go prickly pear picking, but you will have to put up with me singing The Bear Necessities while I do that.

One LIT with a fresh fruit garnish!

    DONE!

    KK,

Oh...Think of a Kiwi fruit...except blood red with seeds that crunch! It has a citrus-y tang to it...... They are wonderful!

I think some singing would be quite allright!

A prickly pear slushy would work!

    DONE!

    MOFF,

A window seat and plenty of apples!

    DONE!

    WR,
At Thursdays you can have both!

    DONE!

    David,
You ain't picking up any large pumpkin....That's why I brought the Orc!

    DONE!

    LB,

There are vendors that sell "Mexican corn" from push carts....They slather it in mayonaisse and shake parmesan cheese over it.....interested?

    DONE?

RICHARD, when I see one, I'll point it out to Orc then HE can pick it up and put it in the back of the bus. I hope it doesn't weigh too much or else the bus will be doing wheelies!

Persimmons! Such fond memories of when I was a kid, we'd go up to my Aunt's farm in Shasta County to help her with the fall harvest on her farm and then we'd go to the persimmon farms. It was such fun. I remember one year we came home with so many, my mom spread them all out on the rumpus room (remember those?) floor to ripen and then we'd have persimmon bread, cookies, pies, bread pudding, and just plain eating them out of the skin that God gave them. Whenever I see persimmons in the store it brings back such wonderful memories of mom cooking up a storm and the wonderful smells coming out of the kitchen.

So, a cuppa hot cocoa with extra marshies and a slab of persimmon bread hot from the oven. Yumm! I'm in heaven!

Gosh we can open persimmon seeds and see what sort of winter we are going to have. That's what our weathermen use, I swear! (moff crosses fingers)

Let's see: a spoon shape means, snow, a knife shape means a cold winter, and a fork means a mild one. (I think)
