    labradoodle

Hello, does anyone out there own a labradoodle. Our Haddie is a beautiful black labradoodle, but I feel she is very bored at home when we are working and when we go out. Does anyone have any ideas to keep her entertained ?
We have just purchased a kong today, hopefully that will help. Any more ideas would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Pet Talk. A kong is definitely a good idea. How long is she home alone at a time?

I don't think we have any other labradoodles on this board (we are not really fans of so-called 'designer' breeds). I'd love to see pictures

Take your dog to Doggy Day Care 1-2 times per week. That should poop it out. I know it poops Fenway out.
I love Fenway, JoJo, Olivia and Nonnie!

What makes you think your dog is bored? When dogs don't have anything to do they're content just snoozing. If they really are bored or not happy and content they usually act out in some way.

Emc, I have to disagree. Most dogs aren't happy just sleeping. They need companionship, exercise and playtime.

Haddie, does your dog like to play fetch? Does she like to play with the squeeky stuffies or tennis balls? My Lab had really bad separation anxiety when I first adopted him in December. He loves to play fetch so we play it before I leave. Then I put him in my room (he doesn't like the kennels) and give him a Milkbone (he loves food) and he's fine until I get home. The I take him to potty and play fetch again as a reward for being good. You might want to try some type of fun activity before you leave.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Yes, Dukedogsmom, you're right, dogs do need companionship, exercise and playtime, and when they have it they are happy to spend their time snoozing. Dogs that don't have those things usually act out in some way, Haddie didn't say what it is that makes her think her dog is bored.

Missy 879: Dog mix of Labrador retriever and poodle. If I remember right, the benefit is that they have hair not fur, so they are better for folks with allergies. They get the personality fo the lab, a bit more low energy level than apoodle might be. You can see a brown one in this thread

    Also post 4, pictures 6 and 7.

Haddie, I would suggest a few things. As alrady mentioned, can you give her a good run and play time before you leave her and again on your return? Next, if she is one to play with toys, consider any of these toys to leave with her when she is alone:

I think someone also mentioned she leaves treats hidden around the house for the dog to come upon during the day. Small nibbles, so there is no problem with weight gain. And only hide them in the rooms you allow her!

    Hope these help.
