    Kiki's Paw

-sigh- if this holiday couldn't get any worse. I wish it was over already.

Kiara hurt her paw today while we were out on the island. It's sliced pretty nicely.

That foot is all swollen. I've cleaned it and put vet wrap on it. The swelling has gone down from it's original state but I'm worried about it becoming badly infected. Hopefully, keeping it clean and closed up, it will be able to heal fine.

Probably a rock in the water. I didn't see anything in the cut while cleaning it.

Ohhh Kiara!! Always worrying your mommy and us Unfortunately, our rule of thumb here with Giselle and her paper thin skin is that we don't go to the vet unless the cut is bigger than a nickel and/or her pads are cut. Those are so hard to heal Kiara, get better quick!!

Poor Ki! I hope it heals nicely. Sounds like you're doing everything right though, so I have no advice.

Tango is always doing something to her paws and they've been cut pretty badly before. She's never needed to go to the vet, so hopefully Kiki won't either.

I took some pictures earlier while wrapping it.

First picture is the swelling. It's her right paw (left one in the photo.) Second is of the worst cut, she has a few others but they aren't as bad. Third is of her all wrapped up but still happy.

Paws are a tough place - it's good she'll keep her wrap on. do you have any booties? Star has injured her paw pads & she didn't seem to mind wearing a bootie. It helped keep the wrap clean too. Kisses to Kiki's little paw, hope she heals up soon.

Well, she was good about keeping her wrap on, until Mufasa decided to take it off for her.

Moo ... you're helpful! But, please let mom re-wrap Kiki's paw so it will heal and she can be your swimming buddy again.

Since Moo tore it off there wasn't any wrap on it all day. It's probably a good thing though, as it was able to get air all day and that sometimes helps with healing.

Here she is tonight after being cleaned, antibiotic ointment and rewrapped. Tired little girl. She's been soooo bored since I've been limiting her activity.

When the neighbor's dog bite Buddy on the foot, he never touched the wrapping, it was Sierra that would always take it off!
Guess Moo wants all the attention on him!

Glad the swelling went down! When I wrapped Buddy's foot, I would put a sock on his foot to keep the wrapping clean, I'd tape the sock to his foot so it's didn't come off. (unless.. Sierra got to it )
