Cat food isn't horrible for dogs as an occasional treat. The amount your dog is eating it in though could be a problem (depending on the breed.) It's more of a problem that your cat isn't getting enough to eat.
As others have said though it would be best to feed in separate rooms. (Or teach your cat to eat on a counter or other high place the dog can't get to... I understand though if it is a dog like a Rat, Fox, or Jack Russel Terrier putting the food up high may not be a deterrent )

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.
