    Glutton for punishment...

Big ol' sucker, nutcase, looney tunes(that's what my hubby is going to call me).....That's me, among a few other things.

I went to the shelter on my lunch break today. I meant to pay Sophia's adoption fee as she is clearly not a foster anymore and make a donation in Beau's memory. I did do both of those things. I also agreed to pick up a new foster cat after work!

    Meet Puff:

She's 10 years old, but looks older to me. Picture is stolen from the shelter website. She was owner surrendered when her person, an elderly man, had to go into assisted living. None of his kids would help with his cat and he couldn't take her to the facility. I actually had an email about her before he moved, but I said no at that point. Puff is not doing well in the shelter. She isn't eating well; is very skinny; has had some problems with her bowels and has a little lump on her head. The vet has checked her out and believes she's just very stressed(except for the lump which I will get checked out asap). She purred up a storm when I took her out of her cage. She's a long haired kitty and needs a good brushing and some TLC. I'm not sure that my house is any less stressful than the shelter, but we'll find out soon enough I guess.

Bless you for taking her home. It upsets me so much when I hear about people going in to care who cannot take their pets. So very stressful for all concerned.

I hope little Puff's lump turns out to be nothing.

WOW! WOW! WOW! She is stunning!! Can you just imagine her wondering what happened? "How did I end up in this cage? Where is my human" When can I go home?".. Is there anyway you can find out where her human is and take her for a visit? Some will allow pets to come for visits.

She is just so lovely!!! When I retire, I want to take in seniors and I am getting to old and I think kittensyoungsters would outlive me.

It feels like the little warts one of my old dogs has. I don't know if cats get those, but I assume they do!

There are has got to be a way to allow the elderly who need assistance to keep their pets! I bet that old man and Puff would feel much better if they could have stayed together! Once Puff is settled in, I'm going to see if I can find out where he is and send a note/pictures so he knows she's ok.

Was it here or where(?) that I read that article about purring has healing powers, the vibrations or something really heals! Her human probably needs her more now that ever!

Mama lived a whole lot longer than the doctors said she would and I have always said she lived for Kitty Boo, Boo is what kept her alive and she stayed with Mama until she drew her last breath and we had to remove her from Mama's chest when the undertaker came.

It sure is Puff's lucky day. I'm so glad you took her home, and even if it may take some time to adjust, I think she'll soon find out she's in a loving home, but it would be great if you could find out where her "old Daddy" is and let him know she's OK.

I hope her lump is nothing serious.

That would be lovely, and would make him feel so much better. It can't do people any good to have to leave their animals behind.

I have always said she lived for Kitty Boo
I've heard that too. Something about how it's the same frequency as ultrasound waves. My Mom works at a nursing home that has two resident cats. They are very effective at calming the residents, especially the Alzheimer's patients.

My grandma has a kitty and I have frequently said that she will pass on shortly after Chow goes. She lives for that kitty and he for her.

Dont worry about what people say as a lot of them are fools , more concerned with thier toys and TV than Gods Creatures.
If loving Our Fellow reidents is foolish then get out the nets because we are all going to the Funny Farm.

There is one assisted living place here that has a resident cat, an orangie and white boy!

I was talking with someone who naively thought that all assisted living places should allow pets! Like, more than one...

I pointed out that the staff were stressed enough(we are notoriously short-staffed here in Alberta) to not deal with a bunch of litter boxes...and the places are likely under MUCH more stringent health rules than others.

PUFF - welcome to the Ranch! I hope your bump is nothing, and that you have a long life there. That it will be happy is without question!

    Tamera,

You did a wonderful thing!! Given Puff's age, she'd be very difficult to place. I'm glad you got her outta that place. I'm sure ANYTHING is better than where she was.
