goodbye baby blue....
blue was a tormented, abused, starved of food and attention and had never had a hand lifted to him in kindness, only to hit him and to set the other dogs on him. his sister, sadly unknown, was found dead with the alive blue with a chunk of her flesh missing- he had to eat his sisters carcass to stay alive.
he was taken to a shelter, but nobody wanted the poor little soul- he was too scared to come near anyone.
this was a 14-day-maximum shelter- he was on his 13th day.
and thats when my dad came along. i wasnt even alive then-my mum was pregnant with me. "how long has he got left in this shelter?" my dad asked
"tomorrow, he'll be going in there," pointing to the vets office "and wont be coming out."
"we'll take him" my dad blurted out. blue was slumped in the corner, quivering in the corner at anyone that came past to look at him.
he had a very happy life from then on, sleeping by my cot when i was a baby,
poking me with his wet nose when i was 10...
3 years later, blue had to be put down due to the fact he was senile, and couldnt control his bladder.
i wont forget that moment. my mum came home, i ran downstairs to fly at my dog and cuddle him for all it was worth. i got downstairs, flung my arms out....
blue was gone.
i never said goodbye to a dog that was always there, wherever i looked.
but he was gone forever.
i hope his sister, peanuts the cat, sweetie the hamster, albee the fish are all there at rainbow bridge with him.
i love you blue- you were a lifetime friend
