    Dark Flame Crested Gecko

This is my Dark Flame/Dalmation Crested Gecko I won from Matt (breeder of my two male cresteds) via the Pangea Forum poop contest last year. She's a year & 2 months, 29 grams, and a real gem. She started to develop spots around 6 months of age and recently I noticed some red ones!

In all I've found 16 red spots scattered around her body.

She's not fully fired up (she gets really dark) but I hadn't photographed her in awhile, so here she is!

    Her snobby pose

    Nyahh!

    You talkin' to me?

Closeup of the cluster of red spots on her neck

And to give you a comparison shot of size and color.. this is Raptor, my two year old male Tiger/Dalmation crested who weighs 67 grams. (40 grams is average)

    Beautiful and interesting critter!

The firts picture looks like a rusty pice of metal . Wonder what his natural habitat must be.

We call her Baby Crested currently. She was unsexed when we first got her so we went with a generic name. I'd like to change it to something more feminine and unique but nothing is coming to mind.

The boys are called Raptor and Nimrod.

(Rhacodactylus ciliatus) are native to Southern Grand Terre, New Caledonia and at least one small surrounding island (Isle of Pines). Crested Geckos are semi-arboreal, spending most of their time in small trees and low shrubs. They will however, seek out hiding places near the ground to sleep during the day. Crested Geckos feed on both insects and fruits and in most cases can be kept at room temperature.

Wow, they are both amazing! I have always wanted a lizard, but I just don't have the time for one right now.
