Sunday, my daughter Amy and I went to Protectors of Animals in East Hartford. It's a no-kill shelter. I filled out a volunteer application and hope I'll be starting soon. I've missed rescue and would love nothing more than to work with the ferals and to let them know that not all humans are bad.
They had a total of about 20 cats, ranging in ages, size and sex. There was one older beauty, named Queenie, who has the run of one room. She's 22 years old and has been a resident of POA for 3 years. The volunteer there told me she was found abandoned by her owners. She's the oldest cat there, and is on daily pain meds for arthritis. She's a sweet old lady and is bone thin. I can't wait to start my volunteering there. I've really missed it!!
