    Trained cats?

I was wondering if anyone has trained thier cat to do something besides go potty in their litter box?
I know many people think cats are not trainable, but I know better. My cat is not trained....well, maybe that's not true. He knows how to wake me up so I will feed him. hee hee

So if you have trained your cat to do something, please share what and how you trained them.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

My cats are sort of trained. They know how to sit, come when called, and stand.
Thanks so much Ashley for the siggy!

Cocoa Kitty is a very good boy! He sits, stands, turns in a circle on command, stays, comes when I call him (most of the time)and walks on a leash. I think he enjoys the challenge, extra attention, and occasional treats. I would teach him even more things if I could think of them!

Vixen comes when called, speaks when spoken to, walks on a leash, and stays (usually).

But the list of things she has me trained to do is much much larger.

Wow!! This is soo cool to see so many trained cats. However, no one shared how they got their cats to do these things. I would assume you would do it along the same lines as a dog. But could someone share with us, in case anyone else would like to try with their kitty??

Spot will sit on command. He also knows high five. I can also hold out the palm of my hand and say Paw, Nose, or Head, and he will touch whatever I called to the palm of my hand. Might be time for an appearance on Stupid Pet Tricks.

Sometimes, if I say "kiss, kiss" my cat will lick my hand. If we say "You want some foo foo?" he knows we're asking if he's hungry. Also, my dad's taught him "look at the birdie" and "look at the kitty" whenever he says it, Gin looks out the window all over to find what we see. He also knows what "outside" means. I guess he's pretty smart heheheh.

And I have seen a cat walk on a leash, very surprising...my cat HATES leashes and collars.

Yeah I've taught Leo tricks.. I just used the same methods as with dogs (which basically means treats.. Can't really get a cat excited on just praise).
So far he will sit, lay down and lift his paw on command. I am working on "flip" which means he turns around in a circle.. So far it has been going well.

It does take longer to train a cat.. and it takes a whole lot more patience.. and I doubt I would be able to train any other cat besides Leo.
Leo is very dog-like in behaviour. He has always been around dogs and copies their behaviour quite a lot.
