We Finally got a bit of Snow--Pictures/Video

Yesterday morning(Dec. 29) we woke up with some snow! I was so happy so of course I got the sled out and took my team (Timber, Angel, Dakota, Grizzly, and Arctic) out for a run. And later I hooked Maya and Thunder up to the sled and let them pull it around together. And Yukon......Well for some reason he just isn't into the pulling thing, kinda crazy for a husky, but ya know I did adopt him.....hard telling what EXACTLY he is .

So here are some pics(9) and videos(2) from yesterday.

    Dakota, before we took off

    Annnd their off!

    Arctic and Grizz

    Tired Boys

    More to Come...........

    ...........

Maya, during her and Thunder's little run

    "I'm gonna beat you!"

    Video 1, In the beginning....

Video 2, Towards the end (after our short break, heading home) Dont mind Dakota, I guess Timber wasnt going fast enough for him, so he got a bit tangled with his neckline.

Sorry for they were a bit dark.

    Enjoy!

Wow, watching the first video I can see. They really move! I always pictured sled teams as being slow. (with endurance )

that looks like so much fun! I'm jealous!

Great photos! Huskies sure love the snow don't they? By the way, I'm still stealing Dakota, I love that boy. The look on Yukon's face cracks me up..."You actually want me to pull that thing?" Where do you get all of your equipment? Can two huskies pull a light sled fairly easily? I'd like to try it with Nebo and Keva when Keva is older...what age is ok for them to start pulling? Sorry for all of the questions.

I'm so jealous! I can't view the videos. I'm at work and don't have the proper flash player Your dogs are beautiful and I would love to be there to play with them in the snow. We don't get much of that in Florida, you know?

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Awww thats ok . Well my sled I got from someone who makes them, who lives not to far from me. And my other equipment (harnesses, lines etc.) I either bought from or just ordered them offline. Here is a good website that lists different places where you can buy.....http://www.sleddogcentral.com/equip&supplies.htm

And when they are about 3 months or so I will let them wear a harness around. Once they are about 5 months I will let them pull around a little log, small tire, etc. And as in my pics with Maya and Thunder, I will start hooking them up with one other dog to run along with. Just as they get older (around 8 months) I let them pull with maybe 2 or 3 other dogs. Once they are a year they are able to run with the whole team. That is how I train with my dogs, but there are other ways different mushers train . (Hope some of that made sense!,lol)
