    Maxie died last night

My son found our Maxie dead yesterday afternoon. Maxie was 13 and1/2 years old and had been with us since she was 6 weeks old. I have always known when it was time to have my dogs put out of their misery, but maxie wasn't really showing any signs. Sure she had a little trouble getting up and had been losing weight, but she still pawed at her bowl every morning and acted pretty much like the puppy she always was. Yesterday afternoon my daughter and I went Christmas shopping and when we came home Maxie didn't greet us. I didn't think much of it. But when two hours went by I told my son to check on her. He found her dead on the basement floor. I feel so guilty because she died alone. As hard as it is, I have always been with my dogs that have died, I just feel so bad.

I'm so sorry to hear of Maxie's passing. It's so hard to loose a dear pet. she sounds like she had a wonderful life with you, and whatever happened, must have happened quickly. I understand your being upset that you weren't with her, but I'm sure it didn't diminish her love for you. I think sometimes animals prefer to go off on their own when it's time. Maxie's at the Rainbow Bridge now, healthy and playing with all the other RB pups there. She'll be looking in on you.
I will be thinking of you & your family. Rest peacefully, sweet Maxie.

I'm so sorry for the sudden loss of Maxie.

It's hard in the first place to loose a pet, but being so unexpected just makes it that much harder.

Please know that she's resting easy now and is waiting at the bridge to see you again.

RIP Maxie, you will be missed.

    I'm so sorry about, Maxie.

Don't feel bad for her passing on her own - many animals prefer it that way, so as to not upset their people.

She resting easy and is once again the puppy she was at RAINBOW BRIDGE.

First of all, I have to say How Sorry I feel for you and your family now.

For a pet to pass away, so suddenly , has to leave everyone feeling so shocked and uprooted from reality.

But, Animals know when their time has come, and We are never aware of the signs , nor , do we understand their bravery in facing the final hour.

Please, Never feel bad for not being there with Maxie when she passed on.

She left this world with Canine Dignity, as Nature intended~

You have My Sincere Condolences daisybee~

May She Rest in Peace ~

    RIP Sweet Maxie

We are so very sorry for your loss of Maxie. You gave her a beautiful life full of love and she lived it. Sometimes pets go off to be alone and go to RB. We hope that you find peace and comfort, more every day. Remember all the great memories that you made with Maxie. Our thoughts are with you.

So sorry to hear about Maxie. When I was a teen, it was me who found our dog had passed on, also. I know you're sad that you weren't there for her but everyone is right about animals going off by themselves when they're sick. I know that doesn't make it any easier, though. There are no words to cure your heartache. Just know we're here for you. Sweet Maxie is now playing with all the other RB dogs, fit and healthy and happy.

Please don't feel too bad. Sounds like Maxie had a great life! Also... you were there with her in the end. You were home and Maxie probably peacefully simply laid down for her last time, content with the knowledge that her family and she were where she wanted - at home and that all was well and "it was time". Nonetheless, so sorry for your loss.
