Chica is getting Pet Health Insurance!!

CHICA IS GOING TO GET PET INSURANCE!
I am looking at VPI Pet Insurance, Pets Best Insurance, or PetsHealth Care Plan.

Does anyone have Pet health Insurance for their pets? What do you think of your pet health insurance plan?Which Insurance do you have?

I have charged quite a bit of money on my deer Chica's health these past 10 days!!!!I hope to have my Chica with me for at least 15 more years!!!!!!!

I have had health insurance on my dogs for years! And its worth the cost if nothing else than I know, if something happened, money is not the object... I never put a dog down for money- but sometimes it has made it really hard on me.
I applaud it completely!!! And they are a great company!

Check out the ASPCAs web site. Their plans don't look too bad!

Depending on the condition of my dogs, I have different plans for each of them.
The problem with the ASPCA plan is it does not allow you to keep your dog at the doctor of your choice, and you have to pay it and submit. VPI doesnt do that ... I want my pet well, and no bill hanging over my head waiting for someone to pay it..

I would also call your own vet, and find out which plan they accept. Not all vets accept all plans as far as using this as a form of payment at the time of treatment.

I have the info on VPI. The Vet Hospital said that you pay for services, and you get reimbursed by your insurance company. You are supposed to send the receipts to your insurance and get reimbursed.
    VPI sounds good!!!!!

I like the idea of "never letting money make a difference on whether you treat your pet." However, there are some things that worry me about VPI. Perhaps someone here can clear this up for me.

On their site: VPI - What is Not Covered

It says at the top, "Congenital or hereditary defects or diseases "

I would assume this includes things like heart murmurs and luxating patellas?

Congenital and hereditary defects are some of my worst concerns.

    Any thoughts?

Not necessarily= if its listed in the breed of health defects, then no- but like Hotties condition is not listed as in the breed ( OCS and degenerative arthritis). Also- like my vet and my daughters, they accept the insurance with a token check that is never cashed to be paid.
The condition to be over 50 percent of the breed. Thats pretty high- even then like with sighthounds sensitivity to anethesia, they paid the anethesia too...
