    Flowerfestival in my town!

    My region is worldknown for cultivating flowers like begonia and azalea. Half of the people here work either at Volvo (large assembly factory here) or in florist's business! There used to be a huge flowerfestival every year. But the cost was getting to high, so it does no longer happen.
    This is a pic from maybe 40 years ago


    Last weekend, my neighbourhood decided it was time to give the festival a revival. So they made this gorgeous flower blankets, with theme "Countries of the European Community". There was also a balloon contest (15 hot-air balloons!!)

    90% is begonia!
    Every year there is also a flowercarpet on the Grand Place of Brussels! All flowers there come from my town!


    this is a flowerfield with thousands of begonia's near my house!

    Those flower carpets are amazing!!! I do see mass plantings of Begonias during the Summer months over here, but nothing compared to those !!!!!

    Wow, some amazing flower carpets - so pretty! Love the telephone box too - and of course, I recognise the little mermaid.

    Must be fun to be there in person.

    Lovely designs with the flowers!! Kudos to your neighbourhood for reviving the flower festival!!!
