Question What is the difference between a male or female cocker's behavior?

My older female cocker just passed and want to buy a puppy. I have seen a wonderful boy cocker and I just wanted what to know the difference in training a boy to a girl cocker?

I am a widow and live in a small townhouse so I am not sure that is large enough for an active boy?

Any thoughts or suggestions. I have a 15 year old Siamese that likes cockers.

I don't think they differ much by gender, but individuals will certainly have different personalities. Most I have met are very frendly toward cats and people. Do you plan to get a puppy? You could look on petfinder.com for a cocker in your area to rescue. There are puppies and adults and they have a description of their personality. Rescuing an adult would take away the burden of first shots, spaying, and most training.

Well my family prefers females but i'm not sure why. I think the dogs themselves depend on how easy they are going to train and how active they are. My friend has a cocker spaniel female and she isn't that hyper at all... more laid back. But it does greatly depend on the dog and the training. (what are the limits) I've heard that females are easier to train but i dont know, personally, if that is true. Yeah, i would look at petfinder. They have some great rescues and when i was looking for a puppy they had 15 cocker spaniel puppies that needded homes- a lot of puppies will also be with a foster parent so it will help you determine the personailty better good luck
