What is *your* personal pet limit?

Just curious as to how many pets - be it a dog, cat, fish, etc. would you be comfortable owning at a time?

I think 3 dogs is my maximum, but I prefer 2 at a time. After I'm moved out, I doubt I'll go over three....that's where I'm the most comfortable. I can handle four at once, but I much prefer 2 or 3. Besides dogs, I do enjoy having a couple fish around, but not too many.

I've dog sat for up to 10 Dobermans before, and while I enjoyed the dogs, it came to be too much. But perhaps that was because I was in a very small house and there wasn't much room for walking or anything....that, and Dobes also aren't 'my' breed. Even so, as much as I love dogs, I don't think I could handle that many of any breed for long periods of time.

I have six furbabies altogether. One dog, two cats, three gerbils.

I love having them all and taking care of them. I would love to have more gerbils but it would drive my cats nuts. I'd like to have a couple more cats soon. I'd like more dogs but I would like to wait until we get to where we're gonna be for a while. We plan on having a large fish tank eventually.

So, my altogether limit is pretty high.

It would all really depend on my living situation. But, three dogs at a time would probably be my absolute maximum, but I'd be more comfortable and content with two.

I can't really see myself having any other animals except for dogs when I'm older, even though I have a variety of them now. I'm happy just owning dogs.

I voted for 1-4 as the IDEAL number. HOWEVER, I have adopted another Sphynx so that makes my ideal number 5. *sigh*

I have one, but am hoping for another. Two would be the most I would have at one time. ( depending on what sort of buisness I get into )

I could handle up to 4 dogs. I'd like a big dog when I move out, and maybe two elderly rescues. Definately not 4 young dogs. It just gets ridiculous after that with food, toys, grooming, vet bills, one on one attention, training.

I grew up on a farm with lots of farm cats. But inside, maybe 2, and older cats, no more kittens.

I fit as many fish as I have tank room, and I'm always on the lookout for a cheap used tank. I want to breed fish.

Small mammals don't have a limit yet.

It really depends on the room and time I have and the money. I love pets that take a lot of care.

I think the amount of animals that one has depends on how much time the can put out to tend to them properly..I have 3 cats, 1 dog, 1 parrot, 1 salt tank, 1 pond with fish and 2 kids...I am at my limit..Anymore, and I think the attention level would drop.
I wish others would think the same way..

I'm currently comfortable with all of my animals, but someday I do want atleast 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a couple bettas. Soo, for my current situation, I said 12-16, but when I'm on my own, it'll be more around 8 probably.

I voted on both 1-4 and 4-8. At the moment, I just have Tia, but we will hopefully be adding more to the family soon At one point a few years ago, I had eleven pets, but I don't think I could handle that now, as I have more homework and my mum works more hours. After all, it isn't the quantity of pets you have, but the quantity of love you share with them!

    2. If I had 10 acres and 3 helpers it would be another story. But I have one dog and I'm thinking of getting a Beta fish. I have to be realistic. I'm in a small flat now, as of some things that happend last year. But fostering might be an option.

Right now I have two dogs, five birds and 30-something bettas.

I think three dogs at the moment is ideal because of the small house we're in, and also because I work up to 12 hours a day 9 months of the year (but luckily there's always at least one person home). Once my doggy daycare is up and running, I can see myself easily handling four or five since they'll be coming with me to work.

At the moment, I think I could handle one more bird. Two of the tiels I rescued get extremely stressed out when I even come close to the cage, so they're happy in their big cage, and I'm happy letting the other three explore my room.

As for bettas, I have a system that can handle up to 96 bettas at a time and provide heated, filtered water constantly. Sooo.. seeing as how I do 30ish water changes a week already, I guess another 100 wouldn't be a problem. I don't intend to go that far anytime soon, but I could definitely handle it.

I voted 4-8. I think I could handle 2-4 dogs (we had 4 dogs at one point and it was fine). Since dogs require so much time in training and individual attention I don't think I would ever have more than 4 (and likely they'd all be siberian huskies ). I'd like to have a couple of cats as well. I have one betta now, I can't see myself having more than 2-3. I really am not interested in any small animals (birds, hamsters, etc.).
