    Reference to Dogs in "songs."

Okay, time for another one of my silly DOG games!!!

Play along if you want to.

Think (real hard now folks) of a song, a jingle, a line in a song, an Advertisement, in reference to Dogs. Try to insert a lyric from your song.

Out of so many , I will start with just one.

"Gonna Buy Me A Dog" by the Monkees--1966

Michey Dolenz: "I'm going to buy me "A" Dog, Cause I need a friend now"

Davy Jones: "Need A friend now, hummm , Yeah.................

The song by Lobo "me and you and a dog named Boo"

Nitty Grity Dirt Band has "Mr. Bojangles" a song of a man and his dog
"There are two things which cannot be attacked in front: ignorance and narrow-mindedness. They can only be shaken by the simple development of the contrary qualities. They will not bear discussion."

Lord John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton

How much is that doggie in the window...
The one with the waggly tail...
How much is that doggie in the window...
I do hope that doggie's for sale!

I must take a trip to California
And leave my poor uncle alone
If he has a dog he won't be lonesome
And the doggie will have a good home!

How much is that doggie in the window...
The one with the waggly tail...
How much is that doggie in the window...
I do hope that doggie's for sale!

I know that's not the whole song, but...

"To err is human; to forgive, canine."

Johnny is a joker who's been tryin to steal my baby, (he's a bird dog!!)

Hey Bird dog get away from my quail,
Hey bird dog your're on the wrong trail,

Bird dog you'd better leave my lovie dovie all alone,

Hey Bird dog get away from my chick,

    "Old King"

    King went a-runnin' after deer
    Wasn't scared of jumpin'
off the truck in high gear
    King went a-sniffin'
    and he would go
Was the best old hound dog
    I ever did know.

I had a dog and his name was King
I told the dog about everything
There in my truck the dog and I
Then one day the King up and died.

    Then I thought about
    the times we had
    Once when I kicked him
    when he was bad
Old King sure meant a lot to me
But that hound dog is history.

    King went a-runnin' after deer
    Wasn't scared of jumpin'
off the truck in high gear
    King went a-sniffin'
    and he would go
Was the best old hound dog
    I ever did know.

That old King was a friend of mine
    Never knew a dog
    that was half as fine
I may find one, you never do know
'Cause I still got a long way to go.

I had a dog and his name was King
I told the dog about everything
Old King sure meant a lot to me
But that hound dog is history.

    King went a-howlin' after deer
    Wasn't scared of jumpin'
off the truck in high gear
    King went a-sniffin'
    and he would go
Was the best old hound dog
    I ever did know.
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

    "Bron-y-aur stomp"

yeah caught you smiling at me,
Thats the way it should be,
Like a leaf is to a tree, so fine.
yeah all the good times we had,
I sang love songs so glad
Always smiling, never sad, so fine.

as we walk down the country lanes,
    Ill be singing a song,
    Hear me calling your name.
Hear the wind within the trees,
Telling mother nature bout you and me.

Well if the sunshines so bright,
Or on our way its darkest night
The road we choose is always right, so fine.
yeah can your love be so strong
When so many loves go wrong
Will our love go on and on and on and on and on and on?

as we walk down the country lanes,
    Ill be singing a song,
    Hear me calling your name.
Hear the wind within the trees,
Telling mother nature bout you and me.

My, my la de la come on now it aint too far,
Tell your friends all around the world,
Aint no companion like a blue eyed merle.
Come on now well let me tell you,
What youre missing, missing, round them brick walls.

So of one thing I am sure,
    Its a friendship so pure,
    Angels singing all around
    My dog is so fine.

Yeah, aint but one thing to do
Spend my natral life with you,
Youre the finest dog I knew, so fine.
When youre old and your eyes are dim,
There aint no old shep gonna happen again,
Well still go walking down country lanes,
Ill sing the same old songs,
    Hear me call your name
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

    "I Love My Dog"

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All he asks from me is the food to give him strength
All he ever needs is love and that he knows he'll get

So, I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All the pay I need comes shining through his eyes
I don't need no cold water to make me realize that

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...
I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

I had to look up these lines on Google.

I kept remembering them, a man singing about, "Old Dogs and Children"

It was sung by Tom T Hall

    the last verse is:

I had to catch a plane up to Atanta that next day,

As I left for my room , I saw him pickin up my change,

That night I dreamed in peaceful sleep, of shady summertime,

of Old Dogs and Children, and watermelon wine.

Are there any people who were born in the 70's , early 80's who remember watching a filmed segment about a "Hard Workin' Dog"?? I think it was an Austrailian Cattle Dog, or Aussie Shephard. The narrater spoke the words from the dogs point of view, then sang the refrain (I'm a dog, I'm a workin' dog) between verses!!! This Cattle dog really put in a hard days work!!!!!

I just loved watching it, and I sang the song for my kids when they requested !!!!

    Years later-------------

I had to look it up because I forgot the words.( no more requests for it I assume )

    I'm a Dog, I'm a workin' Dog,
    I'm a hard workin' Dog,

Now I never said I was a HOG, And you can see I'm not a frog,

I'm tryin to tell ya, I'm a DOG---

Now, some dogs can fetch a stick,

Other dogs will shake yer hand,

I even heard of a dog that can roll over,
all I know how to do,

Is take a hundred cows and teach em some manners!!!

Now I'm not the top dog,
I'm not much of a bird dog,
I'm not the best watch dog,
But I'm an awful good COW DOG

    It's a Dog's Life,

    and I love it!!!!!

If no one remembers this song, I think it is time to see a Doctor!!!! Or, at the least, get a copyright!!!! I've got the giggles today!!!!

    "Ol' Red" by Blake Shelton
Well I caught my wife with another man
And it cost me ninety nine
On a prison farm in Georgia
    Close to the Florida line
Well I'd been here for two long years
I finally made the warden my friend
And so he sentenced me to a life of ease
    Taking care of Ol Red

Now Ol' Red he's the damnedest dog that I've ever seen
Got a nose that can smell a two day trail
He's a four legged tracking machine
You can consider yourself mighty lucky
To get past the gators and the quicksand beds
But all these years that I've been here
    Ain't nobody got past Red

    And the warden sang
    Come on somebody
    Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
    Get my lantern
    Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Well I paid off the guard and I slipped out a letter
To my cousin up in Tennessee
Oh and he brought down a blue tick hound
She was pretty as she could be
Well they penned her up in the swampland
'Bout a mile just south of the gate
And I'd take Ol' Red for his evening run
I'd just drop him off and wait

    And the warden sang
    Come on somebody
    Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
    Get my lantern
    Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now Ol' Red got real used to seeing
    His lady every night
And so I kept him away for three or four days
And waited till the time got right
Well I made my run with the evenin' sun
And I smiled when I heard 'em let Red out
'Cause I was headed north to Tennessee
And Ol' Red was headed south

    And the warden sang
    Come on somebody
    Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
    Get my lantern
    Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now there's red haired blue ticks all in the South
Love got me in here and love got me out

"Keg in the Closet" by Kenny Chesney
We had a dog named Bocephus? living in the front yard he liked sleeping out on the top of
the car he’d drink beer out of the mason jar and he climb up on everyone's bed

"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band
Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no.

"Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" by Big and Rich
So I took her out giggin frogs
Introduced her to my old bird dog
And sang her every Wilie Nelson song I could think of

and I'm sure I'll be editing to add more. You can bet if the even so much as mention a dog I'll hear it.
