Damn that was a BIG angry bear!! I wonder why it started attacking people.. poor thing must have been sick or starving to eat a human (3rd pic was a wee bit gross)

The bear did not eat the guy.

I have seen this on snopes. The pictures are all real but the story is false. I can't find the snopes page but I am looking for it.

I started getting that story about 4 years ago on the Taxidermy net. True but very old story.

It really pains me that such a magnificent creature was killed as a 'trophy'

I agree. The snopes website said it wasn't nessacaryily(sp?)charging at them and he might not have detected them. So, possibly he never was attacking them. That upsets me. He didn't have to be killed. At least, they won't let them keep him.

I don't know. 10 yards away is not very far. If the bear didn't already see them he would have seen them soon. I think being in that position I would have shot the bear. A bear that size could cover ten yards pretty quickly. I wouldn't take my chances.

Huge bear, very impressive looking animal

R.I.P my dear Sweet Teddy. You will be missed forever. We love you.
