    Can Cats get Fevers?

Last night Caramel's ears were red and hot and he was hot all over. Even his little paw pads were hot when they touched my face. He wasnt active he was just laying there? He seems fine today but I was just wondering if cats can get fevers?

Thank-You Kay (Kfamr) for the beautiful signature!

Yes cats can get fevers. A lot of the time when a cat has a fever it means there is something else wrong too. You said he's fine today, but I'd still keep an eye on him. If he starts acting sick again I would take him to the vet.

    JTM,

As Uabassoon said, cats can get fevers. A normal cat's temp is anywhere between 100 to 102 degrees. Anything higher is considered a fever. I'd keep an eye on him.

YUP! cats can get fevers (that is why the vet takes their temperature). So keep a close eye on him to watch for other symptoms.

Ok thanks guys, I'll keep an eye on him and if there are any other changes I'll take him to the vet tomorrow.

I would take the kitties temperature. If its very high I would take it to the vet. It could be an infection maybe if the temperature is higher than the normal range.

A normal cats temperature should be 101.5 degrees F give or take a degree. If the temperature is over 103 its a fever and if its above 105 or below 100 its an emergency.
