most of you are LUCKY! We hit $4/gal about two weeks ago.:mad:
Although I filled up at the Shell in Gurnee today and it was only $3.89 though!
It's been $4 and over for the medium and premium grades for quite a while now. I only buy the regular and the cheapest that I've seen is now $3.91. I'm sure it'll go up before Memorial Day. I fill up when I'm down to half of a tank so it won't cost me as much to fill up. I'm lucky that I don't live too far away from work and that I only need to fill up about every 2 weeks or so. I've heard that it won't be too long before gas is $8 a gallon.
I could only wish for $4.00 a gallon we are currently paying 1,47 euro a liter which is basically 5,88 euro a gallon which is $9.21 a gallon.
We hit $4 a gallon a couple of months ago but it came down quickly. Now it's around $3.79 a gallon. I use my Giant Eagle card and, by the time I'm ready to fill up, I usually get $.80 or more off a gallon because of the $.20 per gallon discount. Sometimes I fill up nearly for free. I don't eat out often and I entertain a lot so I cook a lot and that gets me more gas perks.
Vespa opened a shop here about a year ago. Business has TAKEN OFF in the past month for them!
The cheapest here is around $3.65/ gallon. I always buy the lowest grade, so I have no idea what the other kinds are- way more expensive I guess!
I paid $3.99 for regular unleaded yesterday (Cook County, but in the suburbs). The closest filling station to where I work, which is in Chicago, was at $4.19.
$1.35 per litre.
Given that there are 3.78 litres to the US gallon and that our money is almost at par, that would translate to $5.10 per gallon.:eek:
What I don't understand is...Gas is gas, plain and simple. So why does it cost higher in some places and lower in others?? I know there are taxes, and CT is THE highest taxed state in the union. In my opinion, gas should cost the same no matter WHERE you get it.
I also think the Governor of CT should cut the residents here some slack on the CT gas tax as it IS high, at least for the summer so people can go out and enjoy the weather. I don't see that happening anytime soon.
*sigh*:(
Gas ISN'T gas (Thank you EPA for not coming up with a formulation that works adequately everywhere).
There are many different blends required by area. The gas you buy in LA isn't the same as the gas you buy in CT. Different additives are required, along with different oxygenation compounds, etc., depending on which EPA area you are in. Last time I looked (it's been a while, haven't really looked into it since the last gas price spike) there were 50 or so different formulations required.
A gas tax holiday sounds nice, but it's political feel good BS. The money (much like the "economic stimulus" money) is going to have to come from somewhere else to pay for the "holiday". Being that the government produces nothing, they have nothing to pass the costs on through, so BINGO.....we wind up paying higher taxes elsewhere to cover the gap left by the "holiday".
TANSTAAFL.
Ours was $3.79 this morning. I always look at the price when we pass a station even though I'm on the public bus. I couldn't afford to drive my car even if it was running. :(
I've not seen $4.00 around here yet, but I saw $3.89 and $3.83 on my way into work today. I'm sure by the weekend it will be up to $4.00 per gallon.
:(
I'll use up entire tank of gas going to the Bark Park this weekend in Findlay. It Costs me just under $60 for a tank of gas.
I is about $3.67 here for regular which I use. Here's a link to a neat site that gives you prices which they update. Just plug in your zip code.

Here in Germany, gas has become VERY expensive. 2,42 $ US/liter; one Liter is 0,26 Gallons. So, if I got that right, 1 gallon would be 9,60 $ US here!!!
