Cat makes a dangerous 40 mile trip
I was alerted to this news item from another list and went to the Toronto Humane Society website for the details. A 2 year-old cat was found inside the wheel-well of delivery truck after the driver made a trip from Hamilton to Toronto (roughly 40 miles). The THS website http://www.torontohumanesociety.com/...2006/jul28.asp has further details on how she was found. An absolute cutie.

Cat makes a dangerous 40 mile trip
There was a similar happening on the New Jersey Turnpike not that long ago. A family left Newark on a trip to southern New Jersey not knowing that a cat was hiding under the car. As they were driving along the Turnpike at 60-65 mph, another driver noticed the cat hanging on to an axle and was able to signal the driver who immediately pulled off tthe roadway near Bordentown, some 50 or so miles from Newark. Kitty was placed in the car and safely brought to a nearby shelter. A vet check at the shelter indicated no injury or physical trauma to the kitty. Sadly, I can't recall if the family adopted the cat or if it remained at the shelter.
