Looks like this bad bill will pass & become law in Indiana. It will protect all Puppy Mill owners & Factory Farms in the state. Animal activist will be
barred from exposing animal cruelty & neglect anywhere in the state. With a majority in the Legislature & a Republican Governor, Indiana opens the
door for animal abuse without consequence here in good old Indiana.:mad:

Could the fine people of Indiana, and they're in the majority I'm sure, move the governor's mansion to a factory farm so he can live in a crate with the caged chickens?
Factory Farms are one of the worst things to happen to American Agriculture, sadly. :( Both for small family farms..and the animals.

Signed!!! I did a lot of my growing up on my uncle's dairy farm upstate New York. My cousins loved having the "city kid" around to help out with the work that needed to be done, this city kid thought it was a lot of fun. There was no abuse or mistreatment of any animal there. My uncle wouldn't stand for it! The cows spent most of the day out in the pasture grazing and free to move around as they wanted to. Newborn calves were treated gently and with care but we never interfered with the babies' time with their mothers. The vet came by on a regular basis to check on the farm animals and give treatment or advice as needed. Even though my uncle made his living from the farm, it was a family thing. This is what farming is supposed to be.
Agra-business isn't what I remember growing up. Unfortunately, the family farm has been negatively impacted as a result. Why are these agra businesses trying so hard to cover up their abuse, neglect, and deplorable conditions? We, as consumers of farm products, have every right to know where these goods are coming from as well as the conditions under which they are being produced.
Why??? Because they can and also get away with it. And they don't really have to try all that hard either. Afterall, so many of the governing powers just turn a blind eye to it anyway. I'm sure that they can justify themselves by saying - "Big deal - what's the difference - they're just animals with no feelings that are going to be killed so that they can be eaten anyway!!! So why do they need to be treated humanely??" Yup - there's the disgusting explanation.......:mad:Quote:

When the "animal rights" groups have been caught on a number of occasions creating the taped evidence, they're begging legislatures to pass bills like this.

The editorial is misleading at best.
Undercover investigation by law enforcement would still be allowed. (animal abuse is a criminal matter). The editorial reads that no undercover investigation is allowed.
Given the amount of money spent fighting specious charges, I can understand completely why these bills and laws are in existence. If I was a farmer, I shouldn't have to worry about my next hired hand being a plant for someone who's going to create an abuse situation and then get an otherwise clean operation smeared in the media.

GREAT NEWS!!! According to an email I just received from Animal Place, the Ag-Gag bill is DEAD in California! It was withdrawn by the author because of the volume of phone calls and letters in opposition. Sorry PT friends, I wasn't able to post the link but if you run a search for Animal Place you might be able to see the short notice.

Well, this is going down to the wire. On the last day(today)of the Legislative session, the bill has beeen pulled from consideration
for now. Behind the scenes some are working on changing wording in the bill. (watering down the bill) I hope it is just killed off instead.
