YEAH!
Time to go racing, again.
I am looking forward to the season but will probably pass up on the TV commentary/announcers.

Danica on the pole??? - what a shocker that was.
Ribs and slaw - sounds like a plan. What's to wash it down that would be good - other than beer which I don't do!
OOOHHHH!!! Ribs, cole slaw, and a root beer!!! Just the thing!!! Gives me hope that winter won't last forever after all.
Pomegranate lemonade sounds like it would be good with....barkeep, you can finish this one! ;)
Ribs and slaw sound good, too! I'm in a rather good mood - got the chance to see a friend in the hospital today who has literally come back from hell. It was great to see him sitting up. Good day! :)
Hi, gang! This is my first visit here. Anything I need to know about joining in?
Pomegranate lemonade.. yum, sounds good! intriguing, anyway.
I don't eat meat, so I'll have lots of slaw.
Cheers!
Pat, without cats
I'm glad racing is back. Not happy about Danica. I have my reasons, but I really don't care for her. I didn't watch the Duels today and won't get to watch the 500 on Sunday either. Plate racing isn't my favorite anyway. Hopefully I'll be back in the groove next week. I'll take some ribs and slaw though! Thanks!
Thank you, Maggie!
Yes, Pat - the first visit to Thursdays requires you tell one (clean) joke!
I am currently drinking some odd stuff - it's a hot-chocolate/chai combination. Interesting, dunno whether I like it for sure, but I bought a whole tin of it, so will use it up regardless! Anyone want some?
Ribs and slaw sound good, how about some fries to go with and a beer to wash it down with?
First person to mention DW's catch phrase gets a plate of dinner in the puss from Orc.
One cup of chaicolate coming up!
Speaking of racing, I got a call from my brother Tuesday night, he told me to tune to speed.
I was shocked, they were racing the modifieds on the backstretch at Daytona! Glad to see Steve Park running in that series and doing well. He had a promising career in Cup, cut short by an accident. The first time I ever saw him run in a race live he took all three features.
Chilly and gloomy here today with rain moving in later - not exactly good grillin' weather! I made a pot of corn chowder this morning - anyone care for some with crusty Italian bread with real butter? :)
Break out the hot chocolate with extra mallows, please!!!
We still have a few inches of sleet left over from Q. Now we are to have 3 to 9 maybe 12 inches of snow. It's been snowing super hard all afternoon. Looks like I won't get out until May at this rate. :(
Whew,
I gotta put one of those Old Brooklyn Lanterns in the lost and found.....

I missed most of the week in there.....
I have to boil some water, serve some BBQ, get a clean joke, smile about Mark Martin's finish, laugh about the coverage and ??????????
Another storm is coming down the pike - how do I know this? Ed has been stopping in front of the heater and almost resting against it!!!!!:o
Done?
I haven't come up with a good joke, let alone a clean good one, since I dropped in last week..
Here is a little anecdote from my college days.. perhaps this might do? -
Back 1,000 years ago when I was a college freshman (freshperson these PC days now?) .. the very first class I went to was a history class, in huge lecture hall with the professor at a podium up front. On that first day he gave us a little insight into life in academia and those who pursue it as a career choice:
"You all know what B.S. is .. well, M.S. is More of the Same.. and PH.D. is Piled Higher and Deeper!"
(I apologize if this is still a bit ...off-color? for the requirements?
You thank him now......just remember this when you have to help clean up after a food fight!
Don't listen to him......Everyone gets a virtual clean up suit in a nice green color...
Then can be personalized, too...

I am brewing tea and making pancakes.......
anyone?
Welcome Phesina! We haven't had anyone new pass their "bar exam" in awhile.:D
Thank you, Smokey! Glad to be here!
And another fine member is added to the Thursday Bar......................Welcome - your joke was good too.
Yes - welcome Pat. Hopefully Orc will be on his best behavior (whatever that is   ) - for a while anyway. It would be a shame to scare you off! Maybe the barkeep can just lock him in L&F for a while. :D
Thanks, Gini and Ellie! And I'm looking forward to seeing whatever Orc is.
I'm glad you liked the joke, Gini. I bet that professor hauled that out for every class of first-time students. It helped demystify the university world for the 300 or so newly-minted freshies including me in that lecture hall that day!
I get the idea that line is well known in the graduate student world. I pet-sit on occasion for a grad student in mathematics here at the University of Michigan, and she has a paperback book entitled "Piled Higher and Deeper," full of grad-student cartoons.
Let's just say that Orc is the resident troublemaker.
Hey barkeep. Do you have a picture of Orc so Pat can see what the little devil looks like - or has he destroyed all the cameras too?
Yes to both the tea and the pancakes, please! I've got some maple syrup ....
As for the Orc - it is a species of underworldly character from the J.R.R. Tolkein books - here's a statue of one from the Lord of the Rings movies:

Just to ease concerns about the Orc....
He responds to command from a remote control collar. The only problems that REALLY come in is when David lets him have his own remote.
Oh myyyyy......
