The 10% thing has worked for me (need to start again). I don't miss it and do have a backup fund for emergencies. The bank I use most often is an online one. Their savings account is one where you can't transfer or withdraw money the same day - you need to wait 24 hrs. Perfect for an impulsive person like me!
