Russian Blue - no. Adorable - yes. See below...
Appearance
The Russian Blue has a very distinct appearance and several unique identifiers. The easier identifiers are:
· Green eyes (not yellow, blue, or orange but a dark bottle green)
· Solid blue all over with just the tips of the guard hairs being silver and producing a shimmering effect. Domestic blue cats will lack this tipping and be a flat blue. There are no white or other color markings whatsoever, except for the occasional white locket on the throat (considered a disqualifiable fault)
· A thick double coat. The first coat consists of the longer guard hairs. The second is the undercoat, which is very soft and gives the Russian Blue coat its unique feel. Looked at closely, these fine hairs appear wavy
· Mauve footpads. Most domestic blue cats have slate gray pads
The first indication to me was the eyes...enjoy your kitty! :)
Russian Blue "mix"!
He has lavender pads.
He has green eyes in the middle, amber on the outside.
In the sunlight, he has a silver/blue sheen.
He glows in the dark (just kidding).
Not a pure Russian Blue, but I think a mix.
How about a Korat???
Whatever he is, Cooper is a goegeous boy and SO cute! :) I hope we'll hear and see more of him.
I have a Russian Blue mix but do not now how to post pictures here yet.
Her name is Sasha and her mom is a Russian Blue. Does he have the double coat?
Coop says, "yarng"! Then he saws away on my forearm. He is a Russian Blue mix. No vodka, but plenty of kisses.
Years ago I had a friend who had a Russian Blue and a Havana Brown living with her (oh yeah, a boyfriend was there, also). Her cats were so smart and loving, I wanted a Russian Blue and a Havana Brown for years!!!! Now I have a Siamese and an orange tabby, but I would still welcome either of the former.
From the look of Cooper's pictures and the Pictures that I just saw when I looked up a Russian Blue look pretty darn close together. His eyes my seem orange because of the way the flash or another light source was hitting his eyes when you snapped his picture. Photography was my major in college so I'm pretty good about how light effcts the eyes.
